Kamelot Lyrics

• 1991 - 1995

In 1991 Kamelot was founded by guitarist Thom Youngblood
and drummer/ school mate Richard Warner but it took until
August 1995 for their debut album "Eternity" to be
released. Signing to Noise Records Germany in Spring 1994.
Fans and critics alike praised Kamelot as being one of the
most promising newcomers in Metal.

• In 1996...

...their second album "Dominion" received even more
attention, because it showed the variety of the band,
spanning all the way from European metal to classical music
and progressive.

------ About the song Wander performed by Kamelot

this song is extraordinarily beautiful. overall, this band is severely underappreciated. they are capable of melodic feats achieved by very few other bands can even dream of. they often deftly manage melodic lines from Roy (vocals) and the upper piano registers and Thomas' leads (guitar) while balancing harmonies from the lower piano registers and synths and the crunching chords Thomas uses for rhythm. this song is one of my all time top 10 favorites, and kamelot is in my top 10 bands as well. i'm outraged that pop music exists in the face of such sheer awesomeness.

------ About the song Karma performed by Kamelot

I really love this one, the orchestration is great, the lyrics are really wonderful, and of course the usage of 5/4 in the verse is always a big plus. The chorus melody also reminds me very much of some of the melodies of the band Conception that Khan was the vocalist in before he joined Kamelot. I kind of like seeing his work in that band and his work in Kamelot sort of come together.

------ About the song Helena's Theme performed by Kamelot

"shouldent a song about suicide be a little, i dunno, darker?"

But the song isn't about suicide; it's about Helena's memories of her love, Ariel. As such, her song is bittersweet... her undying love contrasted against the pain of her loss and as you correctly pointed out, her redemption in the care of the River Spirit.

I love this song for what it represents. It puts into song what many have or will feel at some point in their lives.

------ About the song Helena's Theme performed by Kamelot

unwilling to live without Ariel, Helena has jumped into a river, ending her own life. The spirit of the river has redeemed her soul, sending her to heaven's light, along with that of her unborn baby. that no one knew about. Oops. at least this will upset ariel so much the his soul will never belong to mephisto. this is a pretty and progressive song, starting with helenas voice and ending in an escaltion with her suicide. the vioce of the river spirit can only be heard if then song is slown down, i believe. the song itself serves its purpose in the story, though it dosent add much to the album as far as music. shouldent a song about suicide be a little, i dunno, darker?

------ About the song Love You to Death performed by Kamelot

This song is simply amazing... I'm eighteen now, and am still with my boyfriend who I met when I was fifteen. We're complete soul mates and I love him so much, and whenever I listen to this song, yes, it makes me afraid to lose him, but it also makes me realize how precious life is and how it's possible that each day may be our last day together.

It also makes me incredibly sad that I had to Accidently stumble onto this song while I was on YouTube. I had never heard of this wonderful song until that moment, but I've heard "Give Me Everything Tonight" on the radio like a million times. This song should be on the radio instead of the countless songs about sex.

------ About the song Love You to Death performed by Kamelot

Well, first I would like to start off by saying I am in love with this song. When I first heard this song I was watching a parody movie that someone made based off of the famous anime show "InuYasha"™. The characters included Sesshomaru® and Kagome®. While I was listening to the song I was thinking this song is about death and it's dark and mind you at the time I was about 9 or 10 and I was going through this goth stage. Now that I'm actually 15 and I'm not into the whole goth sha-bang the song is beautiful. It promotes true love lasting through until the end and even after death. Not everything is dark and not everything leaves us. It's still with us and it's as strong as we make it and believe in it. I just thought I should put some input from a younger generation in the reviews of other well expierienced individuals. :D

------ About the song March Of Mephisto performed by Kamelot

This is part of their concept album series on Goethe's Faust. Mephisto is essentially the devil who bets with God over who can take the soul of Faust.

The first stanza is obviously ironic. I'd say this is more Mephisto's march of power, collecting souls for his cause as he travels with Faust, claiming God has abandoned everyone and only he can offer them comfort.

So, it's not "for" God in any way. It's not "Satanic" either. It's just a song based on a fantastic closet drama which ultimately glorifies God after a long, dark traipse through the human psyche.

Can there be anymore better ballads than this!!! | Reviewer: Ian
------ About the song The Haunting (Somewhere In Time) performed by Kamelot

When I heard Wander and On the coldest winter night from the previous album, Epica, I thought ballads cant be better than this but when I heard this.... Well had to change my mind. It may not be slow as a ballad but it hits that special place in my heart.

------ About the song Love You to Death performed by Kamelot

This song completely describes my first husband and I. I've heard many songs that describe us and that were our songs but listening to this one it's perfect and so true. My husband passed away 4yrs ago this past July when I was 19, one year after our wedding anniversary.... I met him when I was 15.
