I recently acquired a copy of Static Prevails and before that i had Bleed American Futures and Chase This Light. I havent heard a lot of stuff off of clarity but i do know that SP had me spinning and it was awesome. I loved all the later stuff but SP showed me what they were and i cant wait to one day get my hands on a copy of Clarity so that i can better feel and hear the growth that this band has gone through. However, it would be misleading to say that it is a clever set of lyric and verse. It's quite repetitive, I mean, let's be honest. However, the styling and composition in the recording is such that the listener would be unable to be entirely annoyed with it's repetition. The instrumentals and inclusion of what sounds like a quartet is nice. The tin can sound is reminiscent of the grunge scene of the 90s and leaves me craving more. Btw: Bleed American is a terrible album in that it goes against what Jimmy Eat World used to be- some weird toss-up of 'emotional' and grunge. Bleed American would have been better for the 90s alt-rock scene. But it came out just as everyone was moving on to something a little different. But, I must be honest, it is right there with Clarity when it comes to favourites.
