MercyMe Joseph's Lullaby Lyrics

Last updated: 08/19/2014 11:07:42 AM

Go to sleep my Son
This manger for your bed
You have a long road before You
Rest Your little head

Can You feel the weight of Your glory?
Do You understand the price?
Or does the Father guard Your heart for now
So You can sleep tonight?

Go to sleep my Son
Go and chase Your dreams
This world can wait for one more moment
Go and sleep in peace

I believe the glory of Heaven
Is lying in my arms tonight
Lord, I ask that He for just this moment
Simply be my child

Go to sleep my Son
Baby, close Your eyes
Soon enough You'll save the day
But for now, dear Child of mine
Oh my Jesus, Sleep tight

Joseph worth | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/18/14

Absolutely beautiful song. Joseph played a very significant role in the birth of our Savior. Remember the Messiah was to be a descendent of David (that being Joseph not Mary). Mary was the woman Joseph loved.

Simple but Powerful | Reviewer: Sherri H. | 5/5/14

What a truly beautiful song. The words were simple but the message so powerful. I can not imagine what Joseph was going through, did he know his son was born to die. The child of his wife but not his biological son, how could he understand. Such faith and yet, he must have loved the child, Jesus. This really touched my heart.

a father's feelings | Reviewer: lucy | 12/26/11

I had never thought of Christmas from this point of view. I had always put Joseph somewhere at the back, someone who married Mary just because he was told to do so by God, and someone who protected Mary and the baby Jesus by escaping to Egypt because he was told to do so. I had always understood his role (unconsciously)to be just a prop, a convenience, a tool.I had never considered the feelings he must have had as a father, as a human being. What must he have felt while carrying out his 'duties'? What must he have felt as a father? These issues were never at the forefront till now for me.
After listening to this song, I could sort of understand how a father would have felt in such a circumstance.(I'm a mother of three, by the way)
It's a beautiful song. I made my husband listen to it and we are both touched beyond words.

Awesome Song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/6/11

I am in a Children's Choir at my church, and we are singing this song. I absoulutely love it! I modified the lyrics a bit and sing it to my dogs to get them to sleep. Overall, it's a great song and reflects Christmas perfectly!

Hi Jan. I read your post and I am looking for the same song that you are looking for. I have not been able to find it anywhere. If you find it please email me at monaghansadie@yahoo.com

I sang it years ago at a recital I was in. I fell in love with the song as soon as I heard it.
Thank you

Looking for a similar song! | Reviewer: JAN | 5/5/09

I love this song, but was actually looking for a similar song from an old Christmas Musical.
I think it is called "My Little One", but note sure! I have some of the lyrics. I am hoping someone can help me find the music/words for this song! Here are some of the words:
Heavenly Father, Here is Your Son, He's just like You promised, and yet He's the One.
I'm holding love in my arms tonight, Just let Him be my little one tonight.
Sent down from heaven, God became man, He's only a baby and yet He's Your plan.
I know tomorrow will come, I know your will must be done, but just let Him be my little one tonight.
There was a fire in the Church and many of these good old songs were lost & this one I especially want to find! Bless you!

Beautiful Song... Beautiful Voice | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/16/08

This is one of the most beautiful songs i have ever heard, christmas or not
This is a different point of view after Jesus' birth that we never really thought about and is touching and shows how he probably felt

Sniff.... | Reviewer: Charlie Saelee | 1/28/08

This song is my most favorite of all. I don't care if its Christmas or not. Its so touching to me. When I just read the words of this particular song, I just start to cry. It's just so great of our God beyond all words. I give it a super amount of praises to it!!

The Beatiful words I heard | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/26/07

I love this sogn I do cry every time I listen to it and think that Jesus died just so we could live again and how scary it would even be just to think about making the desision of dieing ...The words and this song is so beatiful it makes me get goose bumps every single time i listen to it.I love the band Mercy Me and hope to meet them some day.

beautiful | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/12/07

I cry every time I hear this song. It is truly beautiful. Any parent who holds their child for the first time can relate to the thoughts and feelings of this song. It is even more amazing to think of the child that Joseph held and what it meant to him to be the earthly father of such a precious gift from God.

So Powerful | Reviewer: G. Upton | 12/5/07

It's a powerful song. It's beatifully written & sung. As a father, holding my child for the first time was overwhelming enough. Imagine what it was like for Joseph: from falling in love with Mary, to finding out she was pregnant, the visit by Gabriel, the looks people gave you in the street, the trip to Bethleham, not being able to find a room for the son of God to be born in, to the shepherd's story of the host of Heaven's song, to knowing that God trusted you enough to place HIS son into your arms...

Amazing Song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/2/07

I weep each time I hear this song on the radio, just to think of how Joseph & Mary must of felt to know they had this child to love but he was not turely theirs as our children are not turely ours but HIS as are we....love this song...
