Johnny Mathis Lyrics

The fourth of seven children, John Royce Mathis was born on
September 30, 1935 in Gilmer, TX to Clem and Mildred
Mathis. As a small boy, the family moved to Post Street in
San Francisco. It was there that he learned an appreciation
of music from his father who taught him his first song, “My
Blue Heaven”. At age eight, his father purchased an old
upright piano for $25. When he brought it home, it wouldn’t
fit through the front door. So that evening, Johnny stayed
up all night to watch his father dismantle the piano, get
it into the More...

------ About the song The Twelfth of Never performed by Johnny Mathis

I lived in a small town in TN when I was in high school. Our town had one restaurant. You could play a song on the jukebox for 5 cents or you could put in a quarter and play 6 songs. If I had a quarter, I'd put it in the jukebox and play "The Twelfth of Never" six times.

------ About the song The Twelfth of Never performed by Johnny Mathis

My boy friend was in the Air Force on Guam.
He sent me a letter to see if I had heard this song.
My friends, 3 other nursing students, and I went to a record store and they let us play it in a little back room.
All of us cried.
None of us had the money to buy it.
He has been my husband for 50 years.
We still love it.

------ About the song Wonderful, Wonderful performed by Johnny Mathis

I was born in HK and emigrated to Canada in the 80's. I think I came to learn about this song and Johnny Mathis in the 60's when I was a little older. Ever since, I've loved this and other songs of that period by Johnny Mathis.

------ About the song Wonderful, Wonderful performed by Johnny Mathis

Well, I'm 15 just finished Desperate Hosewives and enjoyed the song. I sobbed from when this song started till the end of the whole show. Karen was with her son, Mike was there, Rex, a bunch of other people I remember (and don't), and of course Mary-Alice. My eyes still hurt from crying. I looked up the lyrics because I couldn't hear them (I was too busy trying not to cry). It is indeed, a wonderfully beautiful song.

My wife and I listened to this song at my Mothers when we were courting, its beautiful. My wife died this year on 12th April, we always remembered this song and I had it played on the way into church at the Funeral. The emotion that day was was really unbearable, but I had to play it. God bless you Janet.
