As hard as it may be to believe when you see John Michael
Montgomery on stage in the spotlight, singing any one of
his many hit songs, the truth is that he's just a regular
guy. Sure, he has the talent, drive, and charisma that has
enabled him to sell millions of albums and play hundreds of
sold-out concerts. But for all his success, John Michael is
really no different than he was when Atlantic Records
discovered him singing in the Austin City Saloon in
Lexington, Kentucky back in 1991.
"Pretty much what you see is what you get with me," he
explains. "I'm too boring to make any headlines in the
Enquirer. My life is simple. I don't get in trouble. I have
good morals and values. I consider myself a good family
man, and I love to make good country music. There's no More...
This song is up beat and entertaining. It's romantic and cought my attention instantly. This is one of the best songs ever sang and hope to here more like it. Nobody else could have pulled it off. :)

------ About the song The Little Girl performed by John Michael Montgomery
Awful songwriting, terrible theme and an immoral songwriter. To put this in context: the man who wrote this son (Harley Allen) based it upon a forward email he had received. When asked about the legitimacy of the story he told USA Today: "We have no clue [...] but if it aint true, it ought to be." It takes a pretty despicable heart to wish that a song about a girl being abused, and then witnessing her parents murder suicide, would be true. This song is utterly terrible.

Omgg this song just makes tears come to my eyes... I am 12 right now and I am jsut so lucky that I have loving parents here with me. Also, for the young (lady) i think, that wrote about her mom and her dad in one of these comments, I have all the sympathy in the world for you! I hope it didnt leave trama to your life.. I have no clue how old you are, though. This song is so beautiful but yet so true. With god by all the victims side. I pray they will be safe.

I grew up listening to country music, so I know a lot of the popular names in country history. Out of all the country artists I've heard, John Michael Montgomery is my favorite one. You are more than just an established artist John, you are an inspiration and have helped many people through your songs. Life's a dance, and you are owning the floor.

And I said
Hey pretty lady won't you give me a sign
I'd give anything to make you mine all mine
I'll do your biddin' and be at your beck and call
Yeah I've never seen anyone lookin' so fine
Man I gotta have her
She's a one-of-a-kind
I'm goin' once, goin' twice
I'm sold to the lady in the long black dress
Well she won my heart it was no contest
With her ruby red lips blonde hair blue eyes
*(Well)* I'm about to bid my heart good-byyye
Yeah we found love on the auction block
And I hauled her heart away
Now we still love to laugh about
the way we met that day

2 years ago my wife and I adopted 2 children. When they played this song at our church they both were amazed and whispered in my wife's ear "That sounds just like us". No, their dad didn't kill their mom, but the fact that they related to such a sad past tore my heart out. The fact that they also related to such a good ending brought tears to my eyes.

Just learning the song for my band---I think that the great Harley Allen wrote this one---I saw him do it at a guitar pull in Nashville a number of years back, and it was one of the best musical moments of my life. I heard that his brother has sent the chain letter to him---and when you have a great talent for lyrics---this is what you get.

------ About the album Brand New Me performed by John Michael Montgomery
This song is like any other song, story, saying, etc. What you get from it, how you perceive it is up to you. To you it may just be a song saying that if you drink or do drugs you don't believe in God and your a bad parent. I'm not inside your head so I don't know. I do know that to me this song cuts deep. The first time I heard this song and every time since I get chills because I was that little girl once upon a time. With the exception of the father killing the girls' mother and then himself, But they are both dead to me now because they are not in my life so that part still has some meaning to it. The stuff the little girl went through is the same things I went through. The song isn't long enough to cover everything and it doesn't end there. That has a lasting affect on you that stays with and haunts you the rest of your life. It makes things that should be so simple so difficult. Trust and Love have been the two biggest obstacles I have tried to overcome. It's hard to know how or who to Love and Trust when you didn't see, learn, or feel it when it was most needed. I have God in my life now and that is a BIG part of why I am still alive today. If it weren't for my belief in God and MY family my past would have been enough for me to take away my own future. It hasn't been easy by no means but with God ALL things are possible. You have a chance to have a positive or a negative affect on so many lives everyday. Reguardless of what you believe or do with your own life, you have to ask yourself is it affecting anyone else? A lot of people live their lives how they want and do what they want. It's your life. I guess what I'm trying to say is even though everything seems to work out for the little girl in the end of the song thats just the beggining. A change will do you good but it doesn't change what's already happened. So when you do something that you think only affects you look beyond yourself because it may not only be your life that you are changing. What you do could make or break someone else....... Well I have used my freedom of speech and opinion. God Bless America as well as the rest of the world who doesn't have such rights!!! God Bless!!

I remember hearing this song years ago and I finally heard it again today at work. It was tough, because it brought tears to my eyes and I had to work pretty hard to fight them back. The song itself is just so touching, no matter who you are it'll make you feel something in your heart.
I've always been a JMM fan, and this is just one of the many master pieces he turns out.

While Montgomery is a great singer, I prefer George Strait's voice in this particular song. I don't think that anyone would disagree if I said that this is an old classic and is good however it goes.
