DIED: December 8, 1980, New York, NY
John Lennon was born on October 9, 1940 in Liverpool,
England. When he was four years old, his parents separated
and he ended up living with his Aunt Mimi. John's father
was a merchant seaman and John did not see a lot of his
father when he was small. As a child, John was a prankster
and he enjoyed getting in trouble. As a boy and young
adult, John enjoyed drawing grotesque figures and cripples.
One of the reasons for his obsession with cripples and
deformities was because of the Death of his Mother Julia.
The John's school master thought that John could go to an
art school for college, since he did not get good grades
in school, but had artistic talent. He made it to art

------ About the song #9 Dream performed by John Lennon
I agree with your review and comments. Very insightful. To maybe answer some of your questions with this song:
(From Wikipedia):
"#9 Dream" is a song written and performed by John Lennon and featured as the seventh track on his 1974 album Walls and Bridges. In January 1975, it was released as the second single from that album backed by another album track, "What You Got". It continues Lennon's fascination with the number nine (he was born on 9 October, and, coincidentally, the track also peaked at number nine in the U.S. charts when it was released). The backing vocal is provided by May Pang, Lennon's partner at the time.
According to Pang's website, two working titles for the song were "So Long Ago" and "Walls & Bridges". Pang also states that the phrase repeated in the chorus, "Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé", came to Lennon in a dream and has no specific meaning. Lennon then wrote and arranged the song around his dream, hence the title and the atmospheric, dreamlike feel of the song including the use of cellos in the hook.

People shouldn't take this so seriously. John Lennon was just trying to say, "hey what if?". i honestly might not like it if the world was like that but just IMAGINE it. It could be a wonderful thing having nothing to worry about. atleast thats my opinion...

Not Naked | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Give Peace A Chance performed by John Lennon
John and Yoko were not naked during either 'Bed-In' they were making a joke on the press, since what they would want more than anything was a picture of John and Yoko in bed on their honeymoon they decided to let them have but instead of being sexual appear all innocent. The Bed-In protest were about opposing US military violence, not complaining about paparazzi.

Bryan Abbott....how dare you sir. John Lennon was a legendary musician, painter, writer, and peace activist. His use of heroin has been dramaticaly overblown considering most people who shoot up become engulfed in addiction within no time. Narcissist? Anyone with half an ear and a quarter of a brain who has ever heard "Beautiful Boy" knows that John himself was a beautiful individual with flaws not unlike anyone alse.
Bryan Abbott why dont you go back to beating your wife and thumping your bible while the rest of us work towards a peaceful revolution of minds world wide.

------ About the song Out The Blue performed by John Lennon
Most of John's Songs are timeless in their concept, Imagine, Out of the blue, Mind Games, Out of the blue, even Woman and with the Beatles, Across the universe, Revolution, All you need is Love just to name a few. John without any doubt was the awsome, tallest, deepest and the beatle who gave the Beatles what they are now worth.

------ About the song How Do You Sleep? performed by John Lennon
Lennon was talking about something far greater than a falling out. There was a pushing for the beatles split and paul M took the deal. Lennon could not believe that he could swap conscience for fame. Lennon was a true maverick.
Who was more important to the Beatles success? IMO, Paul. | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song How Do You Sleep? performed by John Lennon
Scathing song but John certainly didn't believe "Yesterday" was the only good song Paul wrote. He was just angry at the way things ended with Paul outing the breakup when he was in fact the one to make the decision month's prior. John loved many of Paul's songs but he also didn't like wimpy stuff and "Ob La Di" and others were muzak to John's ears. And I won't get into a John was better than Paul or Paul was better than John argument. I honestly don't believe the bands John and Paul would have formed on their own would have been anything more than really good 60's bands. To really be the Beatles, they NEEDED each other but I think John needed Paul's drive and ambition slightly more than Paul needed John's incisive lyrics and melodic structure. Once John found pot and heroin (later), the Beatles would have gone to shit w/o Paul's continued need to work and try to keep the Beatles in the limelight by writing great songs (singles), some with John's help, some without. As someone said, they were yin to each other's yang and without each other, the Beatles would have been two really good bands but not the worldwide phenomenon they've become. And for the George lovers, even George would tell you that his songwriting needed more seasoning than John/Paul even if by the end his contributions may have been the best of the bunch. "Something" and "Here Comes the Sun" are probably the best songs on Abbey Road. The fact that we're here discussing this more than 40 years later should tell us all we need to know about the legacy of the Beatles.

------ About the song How Do You Sleep? performed by John Lennon
it's quite evident that john was just pissed. Paul was a gifted melody maker. john was a character. pity they fell out. cuz of neither their solo efforts even came close to the beatles. and thats proof against any accusations of an artistic void in either of them.
Die, religion, etc | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Imagine performed by John Lennon
There will always be things to die for. People die trying to climb Mount Everest- a.k.a. while struggling for something.
There will always be religion- and there are many religions that don't have a concept of Hell at all. So...yeah.
And I don't know about you, but I would like to keep my possessions. Sharing is one thing (or donating to my chosen charity)...giving all my money to someone who isn't willing to even TRY to work is something else (cough...this happens when government starts over taxing and over inflating, be it communist, fascist, or what have you- big government, historically, is bad).
I think there are songs that talk about love, and world peace, much more effectively- aka, without the blunt implications that the majority of people would have to change DRASTICALLY to fit into your world view. (I'm referring again to the "no religion" part- although the "nothing to kill or die for" part works too. That implies, of course, that there's nothing to live for either.)
Yeah. Plus I like Paul McCartney's songs better. :P

------ About the song How Do You Sleep? performed by John Lennon
this song is basically telling you that paul was a nobody, witch is true, without john hes a nobody and john was really the only talented one of the group he wrote all the songs, you might say that pauls songs went #1 and his solos went #1 but we all know john wrote most of the music! when paul went solo his music was pop shit, gay as shit and pussy! im not saying they werent both great with eachother bc they were both great when they were together they were made for eachother, but paul is a peice of shit and his pop music sucks. the only thing he done was yesterday and since hes gone hes just another day! johns cd imagine was better then any of pauls solo cds, paul is crap with john and that shows you right there that paul would have to stand on gods shoulders to kiss johns ass!! all you mccartney fans suck, hes music and lyrics are garbage!
Lennon & McCartney - the greatest duo ever | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song How Do You Sleep? performed by John Lennon
They were great BECAUSE of each other. Yin and yang. Each needed and thrived off the other. Their continued falling out thru the 70's was largely Yoko's fault. She kept him from jamming with Macca during Venus and Mars, and she was the one who said Paul could only 'rhyme June with spoon'. Yes, Paul gets a little corny sometimes, but the world needs a little optimism - just like it also needs John's cynical, critical view.
Both of them, the best duo ever, hands down.

John Lennon was the an egomaniacal hypocrite | Reviewer: Bryan Abbott
------ About the song Give Peace A Chance performed by John Lennon
The drugged up mindless drivel found in the lyrics of this song and the fact that he used press releases to invite the world into his bedroom (while he was naked with his wife) so he could complain about the press invading his privacy should be evidence enough for any of his fans that still have more than three brain cells to rub together. Hero worship of Lennon? Why don't you worship Pee Wee Herman while you're at it. The guy wasn't just a dork, he was a greedy, narcissist and wasn't good at writing lyrics once he set out on his own and considered narcotics to be as important a part of his daily diet as protein.

I'm only 15 and i've grown up on music from John and the other Beatles since my dad is a big Beatle fan and John is his favorite, when I was a baby my dad would sing John Lennon and or Beatle songs all the time to me and I would love them, I still do love listening to John now. John inspires me a whole lot by the way he tried to bring peace the world, it's sad on how he had died. I wish I could find away to go back in time and save John from being shot, but sadly it hasn't been mastered yet to go back in time. John will forever live in are hearts and NEVER be forgotten! POP,S SUPER SENSATION JOHAN LENNON | Reviewer: DILBAG RAI
------ About artist/band John Lennon
The Pop,s Super Sensation John Lennon who left this world at the age of forty only, a key member of The Beatles, only adds poignancy to the songs he wrote, the music he and his partners made. The origin of the world fame Beatle song " Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” which was inspired by a picture Lennon’s son, Julian, had brought home from school telling his dad “That’s Lucy in the sky with diamonds and have rightly commented that really there are moments when events almost overwhelm the music as Lennon Senior turned his son’s comment into a song that stole a million hearts away and those who chose to delve deep into the origins of The Beatles’ music and Lennon’s lyrics have wondered often if Lucy in the sky with diamonds referred to LSD, as the lyrics are replete with psychedelic images: “tangerine trees and marmalade skies”, “rocking horse people eat marshmallow pies”, “plasticine porters with looking glass ties”, and so on. A child’s drawing and drug-induced visions came together in a milestone song proving that child is the father of man.
John Lennon had created the Beatles and with Paul, Ringo and George and they made great music together. He will always be remembered as a Spirited Messenger with an Eternal Message who expressed in the lyrics to some of the songs he wrote, after the Beatles visited Maharishi Mahesh Yogi at his ashram in India in February, 1968. The message is included in at least five songs-" Revolution " Two Minutes Silence " "Working Class Hero" " Imagine " "Mind Games" and Watching the Wheels ".These songs took the music world with a storm. His message is the timeless message of all mystics and spiritually enlightened ones, expressed most beautifully in the ancient Eastern wisdom of the Upanishads: We are all enlightened, just we have forgotten it. Be aware of who and what you are. To help remember, go within (e.g., using techniques of meditation to go beyond the mind) and thereby directly, immediately experience the innermost center of being, the nondual oneness, where one can experience inner peace, love, freedom, truth, bliss, or whatever name is preferred for the existential experience of the nameless unknowable mystery.John Lennon was no mystic, but he was a poet. John advocated meditation (meditation techniques as well as the meditative state of consciousness). The ultimate state of consciousness known as spiritual enlightenment cannot be reached by artificial, temporary means such as drugs.
John had written all the songs of his last album "Double Fantasy" in a period of 3 weeks which was recorded and released in 1980. When John was singing and writing this album, he was visualizing everybody in his age group. Unfortunately, John was shot in front of his apartment complex in New York while he was in the process of releasing another album "Milk and Honey". John died of the age of 40 in the Roosevelt Hospital on December 8, 1980, after receiving multiple gun shot in the back. The Double Fantasy album is a great album, which contain one ironic title songs "Just like starting over" now after John's death.
John was not a follower, but a leader and was always fighting for people's right. He was a person that cared for other people and expresses himself by making different political statements. John was not only a great music writer, but also an excellent pop artist and did a lot in the Rock and Roll music world. John can not and will never be replaced by anybody. His songs will live forever in all our hearts and minds. Although his physical presence is no longer with us, his memory and music will live on touching many hearts. John can not and will never be replaced by anybody. His songs will live forever in all our hearts and minds. Just Give Peace a Chance and lets work together to a great and much better world which is the utmost need of the day.
NOT A LONELY HEART
The author is dead, so is the songster. But the words live, as does the music. The tragic end of John Lennon, a key member of The Beatles, only adds poignancy to the songs he wrote, the music he and his partners made. But there are moments when events almost overwhelm the music. Lovers of the music The Beatles created know that the song, “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”, in the famous LP, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, was inspired by a picture Lennon’s son, Julian, had brought home from school. He told his dad, “That’s Lucy in the sky with diamonds”. Lucy was his friend in school. Lennon Senior turned his son’s comment into a song that stole a million hearts away. Those who chose to delve deep into the origins of The Beatles’ music and Lennon’s lyrics have wondered often if Lucy in the sky with diamonds referred to LSD, as the lyrics are replete with psychedelic images: “tangerine trees and marmalade skies”, “rocking
horse people eat marshmallow pies”, “plasticine porters with looking glass ties”, and so on. A child’s drawing and drug-induced visions came together in a milestone song.
But when Julian Lennon got in touch with Lucy Vodden, his schoolmate, after 40 years, the song acquired a different dimension that transcends its original inspiration. Lucy today is 46 years old and is stricken by lupus, a chronic disease that affects the body’s immune system and gets it to attack the body’s own tissues. Julian, who lives in France, sent his friend flowers and rekindled their childhood friendship. He offered to help her cope with her illness. Lucy may no longer be in the sky, climbing in the back with her head in the clouds, but she has got a friend who will be with her even when she is sixty-four. The human angle — important and touching though it is — aside, these developments only reiterate how great music comes back with different meanings.
Lucy can now “get by with a little help from her friend(s)”. The quoted words hark back to another song from the Sgt. Pepper’s album. That song too, legend has it, has allusions to marijuana: “I get high with a little help from my friends.” (The album was released in June 1967, and so it is not surprising at all that it has references to drugs.) While the world, since the LP hit the charts, has been talking about the space between people, two human beings have come together, obliterating the distance age had created, through a piece of music that in its time made a piece of history. This coming together of Lucy and Julian is perhaps the best tribute that could ever have been paid to the music that The Beatles made. It is testimony too, if one were needed, to the power of music. Music connects people, be it the music of Bach or The Beatles. There may be a diamond in the sky, whatever the cynics say.
