In a career that has spanned more than two decades, John
Denver earned international acclaim as a songwriter,
performer, actor and humanitarian. Henry John Deutschendorf
Jr. began his career in the 1960s as an aspiring folk
musician in the clubs of Los Angeles. The son of a U.S. Air
Force officer, John took his performing name from the
premier Rocky Mountain city in the state where he
eventually made his home.
Denver's first major break came when he was chosen from 250
other hopefuls as lead singer for the popular Mitchell
Trio, with whom he sang for two years. His songwriting
skills were noted when Peter, Paul and Mary recorded his
"Leaving On A Jet Plane," which became their first Number
One hit.
Less than two years later, Denver was himself zooming up More...

------ About the song Darcy Farrow performed by John Denver
This is one of my favorite songs. After all of these years of hearing it, I decided to look up the lyrics and found that I was wrong about a number of the words. John Denver sang this song clearly but, the words can be misunderstood. Good bye John, too bad I won't see you in Heaven.

------ About artist/band John Denver
John Denver is my all time favorite artist. Not only was he talented as a singer/songwriter/guitarist, he was such a healthy influence on all of humanity. He cared deeply about the environment, he helped people and his music saved people. I've read so much about him and I think "Wow, he and I would have gotten along famously". I listen to his music every day, it eases my mind and my heart. So tragically he was called home at 53...but his music and his spirit will always be here.

------ About the song Grandma’s Feather Bed performed by John Denver
I grew up with this "bouncy" song as a kid, loving especially the whispered part about the gal down the road. Not until I read the lyrics, though, did I understand all the words to the chorus, which is good since I would not have known what a bolt or tick was when it came to making a feather bed. As an adult the song represents more than just a childhood memory, however. John Denver's music became immortalized in my mind and heart the day he died in that plane crash. Ever since then, the songs he sang - always with a smile, doing what he loved to do most - became songs that stood for the best in love, and romance, family and friendship. He shared his life with us, his fans for a very brief time, but left behind a legacy that most men never achive in two lifetimes. I won't be surpised, if when we get to heaven, we will see John Denver playing music while sitting in the middle of a great big feather bed.

Oh such a lovely bouncy song about childhood in the American South back in the day! lol Got this in my John Denver boxset and it's a lot of fun esp. the part about 8 kids, 4 dogs & the piggy they stole from the shed! Gotta love that piggy... : D Great song that should be listened to over and over again. : )

------ About the song The Christmas Wish performed by John Denver
This song is just amazing. The version I grew up with is the one by the Irish Rovers from their album "It Was a Night Like This". My mother would play this album every Christmas Eve. This is my favourite Christmas song of all time. So many memories...

------ About the song Annie's Song performed by John Denver
This song is called the greatest love song of all time for good reason... the lyrics are simply heart-warming on a deeply profound level. (Sure, they seem just a tad overly sensual, but the song itself is so amazing that I don't really mind.) The imagery is very deep, and the music is serene and beautiful. It's no wonder that this song is played at weddings so often!!! (By the way, one of my major OCs is named Annie... this song had nothing to do with me coming up with the name, but it's an interesting coincidence nonetheless.)
A great duet | Reviewer: Chau-Iou Jeng
------ About the song Perhaps Love performed by John Denver
A great song was performed by a great duet. Domingo and Denver just simply complement each other to enrich the life of the song. It is one of my favorite songs since my study in Taipei and US, and then is with my career all the way from Bay Area to Beijing.
Whats the whisper? | Reviewer: Owen
------ About the song Grandma’s Feather Bed performed by John Denver
Very good, but you missed the bit where he whisperes something after saying 'I'd trade 'em all plus the gal down the road...' for the second time. What does he whisper?

------ About the song Perhaps Love performed by John Denver
i love this song as far as i can remember... when i was a little girl my dad always sings this song to me... it became our theme song. Im living away from him since elementary and only throught this sone i really could feel his love to me even though i grew up without him near me. I still love my dad so much. no regrets. perhaps its because of too much love that my dad gave to me and i find a resting place inside his heart eventhough we're apart.

------ About the song Perhaps Love performed by John Denver
This song exemplifies the brilliance that was John Denver. The lyrics, the poetry, the melody. And for so many mesmerized listeners, the special meaning this song (and so, so many more) holds for each of us. Denver was a treasure who really never got his due, mainly becuase he was caught in between pop and country. For those of us who like his works, however, there will never be another "Country Boy" like John.
