Brand New Luca Lyrics

Last updated: 05/11/2011 11:00:00 AM

When I disappear, do you fear for the sister I took?
When I disappear, it is clear I am up to no good
I am drearily bloodletting this bedwetting cosmonaut
"Son, the last thing you'll realize you need is what you've already got"

So touch me or don’t
Just let me know
Where you’ve been

Please drop me a line with a hook and some raw bleeding bait
(one, two, three, four)
For I am uncaught and still swimming alone in the lake
(five, six, seven, eight)
Shimmering under a moon made in anger and angst
(I was the one who was always repeating it)
Shimmering like a penny out of reach in the subway grate
(Shimmering like a coin kept safe away, you never listen to anything)

So touch me or don’t
Just let me know
Where you’ve been

We could leave it alone,
I’m sure there’s someone who knows
Where you’ve been

You could never work well with our group
Not with the faults we found
So we've fixed you with cement galoshes
And no one can save you now
Unless you have friends among fish
There’ll still be no air to breathe
You could drink up the entire ocean
We’ll still find someone to be everything we know that you’ll never be

So touch me or don’t
Just let me know
Where you’ve been

Or we could leave it alone
I’m sure there’s someone who knows
Where you’ve been

The meaning is | Reviewer: Scott | 5/11/11

None of you are close to the meaning. He made this song after a real turn of events. A mob boss was so sick of his wife and his wife was so sick of him they both agreed on a divorce. Well the mob boss didn't just want a divorce that wasn't good enough in his mind either he had to die or she had to die that's how much he hated he. So in turn he kidnapped her put her feet in buckets and poured cement in the buckets once it dried he said good bye and through her in the lake. That's why in the song you get so we fixed you with cement goloshes i hope you have friends among fishes all that. Just thought I would shed some lighten the subject.
Cheers mate.

Haha it's a great song,
but same to anon, this song scared the fuck out of me when i first listened to it too.

No one will really know the meaning behind it besides the person who wrote it, we can only guess :)

hmm | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/19/10

i always saw this as the whole "there a plenty of fish in the sea" idea. and that there are two voices in the song. "you could never work well with our group, not with the faults we found. so we've fixed you with cement galoshes, and no one can save you now, unless you have friends among fish. there’ll still be no air to breathe. you could drink up the entire ocean, we’ll still find someone to be everything we know that you’ll never be," would be the alternate voice. telling the main one that they'll never be good enough. i don't know. maybe i've thought about it too much.

My friend gave me the reprisal version, which i thought was not that good, but this full version makes up for it. One of the best.

The title refers to a character from The Godfather, Luca Brasi, Don Corleone's most trusted and loyal personal enforcer.

"So we've fixed you with cement galoshes"
"Unless you have friends among fish, there'll still be no air to breathe."
these part of the lyrics refers to how Luca Brasi was killed, cement shoes. A Sicilian message was sent to the Corleone family: a fish wrapped in Brasi's flak jacket. The meaning is made clear to the Corleones: "Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes".

this song is brilliant/to jesse | Reviewer: alex | 11/10/07

my favorite song on the new album, which is saying a LOT because i love this album so much. the first time i listened to it, i was painting, and when the scream came it scared the crap out of me, so i jumped and had to cover my mistake, but the song is incredible.

to jesse:
he does joke in the introductions, but the title of "the boy who blocked his own shot" is actually a reference to what his father used to jokingly call him when they would play basket ball as a family in their driveway when his was growing up.

i dont see it as something at the bottom of the ocean, or ditching a friend. its more like letting go forever something that is so precious too you, something you want soo bad but know you must never have.

amazing | Reviewer: lilly | 11/1/07

'Luca’ which is a done up version of ‘Demo 6’ seems tedious until it dramatically scares the listener. Four minutes into the song and after pure acoustic music, feedback screeches aggressively into your ear and wakes you up to hear the full atmosphere of the song.

Luca | Reviewer: del | 10/16/07

This song was written as a revenge song towards the people who leaked the DAGARIM demos. Thats the meaning.

When I disappear, it is clear I am up to no good
Reference to when Jesse disappeared for a while while recording the new album.

this is what the song means | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/9/07

its about someone who is in a group of friends and they decide to kick him or her out of their little posse, read the lyrics again with that in mind and you will get what i mean

Holy... | Reviewer: Anon | 8/7/07

This scared the fuck out of me the first time I heard it.
