Jeremy Lyrics - Pearl Jam

Review The Song (19)

At home
Drawing pictures
Of mountain tops
With him on top
Lemon yellow sun
Arms raised in a V
And the dead lay in pools of maroon below
Daddy didn't give attention, ohh
To the fact that mommy didn't care
King Jeremy the wicked, oh
Ruled his world
Jeremy spoke in class today
Jeremy spoke in class today
Clearly I remember
Pickin' on the boy
Seemed a harmless little fuck
sponsored links
Ooh, but we unleashed a lion
Gnashed his teeth
And bit the recess lady's breast
How could i forget
And he hit me with a surprise left
My jaw left hurtin
Ooh, dropped wide open
Just like the day
Oh, like the day I heard
Daddy didn't give affection, no
And the boy was something that mommy wouldn't wear
King jeremy the wicked
Oh, ruled his world
Jeremy spoke in class today
Jeremy spoke in class today
Jeremy spoke in class today
Woo (x14)
Try to forget this... (try to forget this)
Try to erase this... (try to erase this)
From the blackboard.
Jeremy spoke in class today
Jeremy spoke in class today
Jeremy spoke in, spoke in
Jeremy spoke in, spoke in
Jeremy spoke in class today.
Woo (x14)

Great song | Reviewer: Astrid | 5/12/11

This is such a great song.
Still now I can't believe he's gone and things would be good for him if people didn't bully that much now gay people are getting bullied.
It's awful to hear what's happening. :'(

RIP Jeremy | Reviewer: Unknown | 3/3/11

I think it is amazing that they pointed out how unswayed the world is to death. He wanted to show them by killing himself but everyone just moved on and for the rest of the world it was just another day... It was a permanent solution to a temporary problem. I have tried to commit suicide, thankfully I did not succeed instead I went to college and became a successful and extremely happy artist... (Proving those twits in high school wrong) who never left our small town of nowhere.
I think my revenge was much sweeter then letting them think they won :D

this song, | Reviewer: morgan | 11/17/10

i honestly can say i relate to this video, yesterday i kid that was in my class moved to a diffrent school, like 15 minets away, and he got picked on and hung himself, because of people making fun of him. this song just has always been a favoret of mine, but now, i see more meaning to it. r.i.p dan, r.i.p jeremy <3

a powerful message | Reviewer: Rose | 8/20/10

This song and music video, I will never forget. I was in high school when it came out , after a freind of mine killed himself. This song is such a powerful message and changed my life. When my child started telling me about kids making fun of others and she sometimes joins in because they make fun of her eyes( she's visually impaired) I introduced her to 'Jeremy' by PearlJam. She put as her status on facebook. She also shares it with her friends. Much thanks to PearlJam! My heart goes out to all who have lost someone to suicide, may they RIP.

Innocence lost | Reviewer: joleree | 3/24/10

To me, the innocence lost theme is obvious from the 1st verse. "lemon yellow sun, arms raised in a V, the dead lay in pools of maroon below"
This young, troubled kid was drawing his violent
fantasies in crayon. Lemon yellow and maroon are
classic Crayola Crayon colors.

This song is good, but has a very serious tone. Whenever I hear stories of gun violence, especially in school, this song always appears in my head! I heard that Pearl Jam wrote this song based on an actual kid named Jeremy who killed himself. What a way to end one's life, and the song's video makes it even more dramatic.

i'm obsessed | Reviewer: ben starr | 11/21/09

Alot of people have songs that they are obsessed with. Mine is Jeremy. It just blows me away that Eddie could take a small newspaper article and turn it into an amazing character sketch. That is real talent right there. Eddie is just fucking brilliant. I love the message of it all, that committing suicide is a lousy way to get revenge because it's forgotten so quickly and that the best revenge is living on. This is emphasized in the video, which opens and closes with the words "an affluent suburb, 67 and sunny" across the screen. The video only feeds my obsession more- it's a scary good video, probably the best ever made.

great and bad | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/14/09

i love this song this is a truly scary thing people especially being a younger teen don't make fun of other people and his family oh god i couldn't believe this i am afraid it could happen to my kid =[ And when i was in 9th grade my friend hung himself in our school bathroom i was the one to first find out it was the scariest thing i've ever seen a dead kid hanging their!!

jeremy | Reviewer: marie | 11/3/09

i really feel sorry for him and his family. the story is very touchy to talk about bcuz of all the pain he and his family went thru. i would have understood where he was coming from and it hurts when u lose someone thru suicide. rest in peace Jeremy.

Hah | Reviewer: Jack E. Moore III | 6/1/09

So the entire song is about some kid who bit a teacher's tit and shot himself? Oh well, songs build so much clout over nothing. At least he didn't go on a killing spree, or leave is computer running a good game people can try to condemn in their stupid greif rants...
