James Taylor Lyrics
James Taylor was the pre-eminent singer/songwriter of the
Seventies and has remained a solid musical craftsman and
performer. Born in Boston in 1948, Taylor grew up in the
university town of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He summered
with his family on Martha's Vineyard, where he met fellow

Karen and I "Are in Myrtle Beach-In our Minds"-RIP | Reviewer: Carla
------ About the song Carolina In My Mind performed by James TaylorThis song always takes me to Myrtle Beach,SC in the late 60's . Karen and I were college age and spent the summers in MB working. She was killed in a car wreck after the last summer there. I certainly go there "In my mind" every time I listen to this beautiful song!

Fact check | Reviewer: Corey
------ About the song My Traveling Star performed by James TaylorThis tune comes from "October Road," not "One Man Band." It's a cuting tune that is delivered in Mr. Taylor's warm, attractive style. Don't let that fool you; he's kicking some ass here
Great singer/songwriter | Reviewer: Aruna Abeygoonesekera
------ About the song The Frozen Man performed by James TaylorFew musicians can be compared to James Taylor, now 64 and still seems to be improving with age. In my view , he is in the same genre as Paul Simon and Bob Dylan and will be remembered more as a poet rather than a singer/songwriter in year to come. You can't write lyrics like those in "Frozen Man" if you wern't a great poet! Looking forward to enjoying JT for a long time!
A broken chain | Reviewer: James Miller
------ About the song Millworker performed by James TaylorMy great great great grandfather moved from Wales to England to work as a millwright in a Scottish cotton mill called Clark Thread Company His son also a millwright brought his family to several Clark mills in New England. My great grandfather came South to Cleveland, Georgia and my grandfather moved to a Clark mill in Anderson, South Carolina where my father was born. The family moved to Clarkdale Ga. where my Father helped them build the mill there in 1930 when he was 13 years old. He went to work in the mill there. I started work in the mill in 1966 with my sister and brother. My first job was unloading cotton bales from railroad cars with hand trucks in the July heat. The bales weighed anywhere from 550 to 760 pounds. I was paid $1.05 per hour. Men who had been doing that job for 30 years made $1.10 per hour. That was the maximum rate. There was no union.
I later moved inside the mill where most of the jobs (men and women) were "piecework". The faster you did your job the more you could make-but it wasn't much. I never thought I would break out of there but a former teacher found out I wasn't in college and basically paid me to go to college. I graduated and went to medical school and my three children have never seen the inside of a cotton mill. The long chain is finally broken. The American Dream-it just took several generations to unfold. The song Millworker by J.T. and the song Cotton Jenny by Gordon Lightfoot bring back a lot of memories. Memories this generation of Americans will never know because all of the Clark mills moved to Honduras in the 1970s.
Amazing... | Reviewer: Nigel
------ About the song Long Ago And Far Away performed by James TaylorA song that perfectly describes my life as it is right now. "Things just not working out as you expecting them to" or "Not always getting what you want". Beautiful mellow melody with poetic, almost bedtime story like, lyrics.
10/10

What This Song Means To Me | Reviewer: Blanket
------ About the song Another Grey Morning performed by James TaylorIt's about a tender man that loves a woman. She is not sad, nor is she happy. She's stuck in the greys of life's rainbow. Somewhere between black and white. Not red hot angry, or yellow sun happy, not black cold, or shining white. She's felt a hollow void, day after day for a very long time. She has lost her ability to feel. She can't laugh, she can't cry. Emotionless grey days, one after the other. So, in a desperate attempt to turn her emotional switch back on, she begs him to "move her" somehow, because she's "locked up inside". And even though he's a kind and gentle man that loves her very much and would never want to be the reason for her tears or anger, she begs him to make her "angry" or just make her "cry"... somehow, even if it risks their relationship, because like a broken elevator, she can't go up or down. She's stuck, and hopes he can unlock her emotions. She's willing to hit rock bottom and be very sad or very angry at him (for nothing of his own choosing,) just to feel something, anything, on life's emotional meter. Thinking that if she can feel sad or angry enough to cry again, she has a chance at feeling happy or glad, and can learn to laugh and smile again. Otherwise, she's reached the point that the grey days are so mind numbing, she can't look forward to anymore tomorrows.
