David Gray It's Not Easy To Be Me Lyrics

Last updated: 05/28/2013 07:54:08 PM

I can’t stand to fly
I’m not that naive
I’m just out to find
The better part of me

I’m more than a bird…I’m more than a plane
More than some pretty face beside a train
It’s not easy to be me

I wish that I could cry
Fall upon my knees
Find a way to lie
'bout a home I’ll never see

It may sound absurd…but don’t be naive
Even Heroes have the right to bleed
I may be disturbed…but won’t you concede
Even Heroes have the right to dream
It’s not easy to be me

Up, up and away…away from me
Well it’s all right…You can all sleep sound tonight
I’m not crazy…or anything…

I can’t stand to fly
I’m not that naive
Men weren’t meant to ride
With clouds between their knees

I’m only a man in a silly red sheet
Digging for kryptonite on this one way street
Only a man in a funny red sheet
Looking for special things inside of me
inside of me ...... inside of me ...(x2)

I’m only a man in a funny red sheet
I’m only a man looking for a dream

I’m only a man in a funny red sheet

It’s not easy ... wu.. hoo.. hoo..
It’s not easy to be me...

beautiful song | Reviewer: count kyle | 5/29/13

as i am/was watching a movie called zoom:academy for superheros that is the song i love to listen to and it reminds me of me except the red sheet for me wearing more likely blue/purple merger kind of sheet guy.. Alas, but not the least i rather dream of having my superhero to be with me and protect me and I do every night and that super hero is Zeus Aphrodite Athena Hercules and other gods and goddess of Greece. I have always kept my wisdom and get wisdom everytime i go to bed and listen to Athena and even the SandMan is my hero and will always be my heros they are more than just heroes they are more like a family to me cuz they never let me down even if they do i will always keep my faith in them to encourage mankind to be less naive

I believe men are meant to fly - maybe not literally - but we were all created to soar. I kind of like the song "Your Raise Me Up" more. That dreams can come true. People like Martin Luther King had a dream ("I have a dream") and they saw their dream become a reality. Just because one has lost hope doesn't mean we have to buy into it. We all have a future, a plan, a and a purpose. There is hope - His name is Jesus. He is a man named Jesus. You can call upon Him and know Him today. That is what changed my life. Set me free from depression and an eating disorder. Now I believe I have purpose, a future and a hope - because Jesus has loved me and set me free.
It's like the song Amazing Grace "I once was lost, but now I'm found, was blind but now I see". God has touched my heart and opened my eyes. You can know Him too. Just call upon Him and say "God if you are real, show me" and He truly will.

Searching | Reviewer: Daunted | 9/13/10

Maybe I'm a little too optimistic, but this song always seemed kind of sad to me, but also hopeful... meh, I could just be crazy.
"Even heroes have the right to bleed"... I love that line.
And everyone needs something to define them, that makes them who they are. It's not gay at all to search for that little spark that makes you an individual rather than just "a part of the group."
They always say "know yourself"... but it's harder than it seems.

HE'S OBVIOUSLY A HOMOSEXUAL... | Reviewer: Totally Hetero | 2/11/10

I just heard this on the radio, and could swear when he says he needs something special inside of him (as though that's not gay enough ;) he goes on to say "like sodomy... sodomy-eeee.." I just had to know if that's what he was saying, considering all the other crap on the radio. Any girls out there want my lollipop?

this song | Reviewer: laura | 5/30/08

I discovered this song in Dawson's Creek! (i'm almost ashamed lol) So, a long time ago now... this song sounds true to me, I really like it... there's not lots of french that know it (I'm french) and it was hard to find who sang it! Now I'm just happy, I listen to it everytime!

I love it! | Reviewer: Gre | 12/25/07

Well, I don't know who writes or who sings this song, but I really like it! I know it was written thinking about superman...but it doesn't seem! je!
"It's not easy to be me"...I agree! Sometimes is not easy to be ourselves...this world is getting worse every day! I love this song!!

sound the same | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/25/07

The song sounds the same it hits at all the same tone's notes and timing of five for fighting's superman "its not easy" off the america town alblem singer songwriter john ondrasik

mis-credited song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/21/07

This is a Five For Fighting song, not a David Graty song.

i dont care about the history of this song, it's good and it's not only about superman, sometimes we pretend to be someone we're not, we just have to be ourselves

Why its not easy ....? | Reviewer: Ozzy | 5/16/07

... if the song title is featured "Superman" on the Smallville Soundtrack and not by D.Gray ??

Cool song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/4/06

Ok, I had heard this song a few years ago and I heard it recently again, so I looked it up. After much research I found that this song is often falsely credited to David Gray (dont know why). The acctual artist is Five For Fighting. I gotta say that this song is really cool. I mostly listen to heavy rock and metal, but I gotta admit that this song really moved me. I give it a 10 out of 10
