Of All The Gin Joints In All The World Lyrics
Artist(Band):Fall Out Boy
Review The Song (38)Print the Lyrics

You only hold me up like this
Cause you don't know who I really am
Sometimes I just want to know what it's like to be you
We're making out inside crashed cars
We're sleeping through all our memories
I used to waste my time dreaming of being alive
(now I only waste it dreaming of you)

Turn off the lights and turn off the shyness
Cause all of our moves make up for the silence
And oh, the way your makeup stains my pillowcase
Like I'll never be the same

You only hold me up like this
Cause you don't know who I really am
I used to waste my time on
Waste my time on
Waste my time dreaming of being alive
(now I only waste it dreaming of you)

Turn off the lights and turn off the shyness
Cause all of our moves make up for the silence
And oh, the way your makeup stains my pillowcase
Like I'll never be the same

I've got headaches and bad luck but they couldn't touch you, no
I've got headaches and bad luck but they couldn't touch you, no
I'm not trying
You only hold me up like this

Turn off the lights and turn off the shyness
Cause all of our moves make up for the silence
And oh, the way your makeup stains
Like I'll never be the same

One of the best songs by fall out boy, hands down. I think that if you truly love a band, you roll with the punches they throw, and embrace what they put out. Its music, and bands try to branch out to break out of molds at some point. And I must correct some people here. I am almost sure that I read in a magazine that pete writes the lyrics, and patrick puts the words into song. I believe they all contribute, but its mostly the two I just mentioned.

i've got headaches. | Reviewer: aya | 3/27/09

sure, fall out boy's changed. but i think its not so much as changed as they've "evolved" in a sense. everything changes. everyONE changes. and if you wanna live harmoniously in the world, you gotta learn to roll with those changes. move with them; embrace them; love them.

no more punk. | Reviewer: =] | 10/12/08

Fall Out Boy is a great band, but sadly it seems like in their new album they are drifting away from what made them famous. it sorta is sad,im not dising them in anyway because i love them and ive been to their concerts and i have their posters, but it just seems they arent the same anymore,it seems like the fame is changing their music taste. the punk that was once in the band is gone. i support them, but i just wish they would write more albumbs like From under the cork tree.

There is only one | Reviewer: Lily | 5/24/08

There is only one band that could write a song as great as Of All The Gin Joints In The World, and that would be Fall Out Boy. Pete really outdid himself when he wrote this song, it is just so catchy. And since Patrick is one of the best singers I will ever hear in my life, you just can't help but sing along. I love this song, it's amazing, the lyrics are phenomenal. It is my third most listened to song on my iPod. Anyone who has something against Fall Out Boy and their songs is just...ICK!!!!

Calm the fuck down | Reviewer: Saints row | 2/19/08

Right i gonna point out what every one thinks when they read comments on songs...

yes F.O.B are awesome, but, CHRIST i wouldn't think life would never be the same, THERE A FUCKIN BAND, not a relegion (spell), if F.O.B. split, then, errr, i'd prob just find another kick-ass band as good as fob, so just think before the start writin stuff like life will never be the same and i'd prob do suicide (i've seen that written before)

i love pete wentz! | Reviewer: alicia | 2/17/08

well my opinion on this this song is "whoa!" FOB is the best band out there and this song rox! we all know pete is a lyricist but patrick also helps. and pete is not the main vocalist! people just think this b/c hello, it's pete wentz! but anyways, i think this song is about sex the first time u have it and how u feel about it afterwards. i couldn't live w/o this band and i would prlly die if anything evr happened 2 ne of the members. life just wouldn't be the same anymore. i love u pete!!! ur my idol!!!!!!!!!! i have a huge poster of u in my room!!!!!!

An Exception | Reviewer: ahhelga | 12/23/07

A long time ago, I was in love with Fall Out Boy. Now... I don't know, the hype, the repetition, my own change in tastes has brought me away from them. (Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those "I HATE THEM BECAUSE PETE IS A yadda yadda", you know...") From Under the Cork Tree was one of my favorite albums, and while I loved it all, there are only a few that stuck with me and that I still love. Among are Sophomore Slump or Comeback of the Year, 7 Minutes in Heaven, and... this song.

God, even up till now, when my tastes have changed quite a bit, and my appreciation for Fall Out Boy has waned, I get excited whenever I hear this song. It's got so much energy, an irrestible tune to sing, and not to mention lyrics that could relate to a lot of teenagers. It's also really fun live. I simply love this song.

Amazing sonngg :) | Reviewer: Melissa | 12/12/07

I absolutely love this song.. i heard it live and i was like woooow how could no one not like this song... i absolutely fell in love with it.. I love all the members of fall out boy.. if it werent for them i really dont know what i would do with myself..and it doesnt really matter who wrote it or anything like that because the four of them make a great band. I couldnt imagine if the band had any other people in there.
but anyway
I think this song is about a couple that isnt really working. Like for example "we're making out inside crashed cars and sleeping through all the memories" meaning that they fight alot but they just make out to make up and they forget about the bad memories. Also " you only hold me up like this cause you dont know who i really am" means that the person is only using him because he is famous. and " turn off the lights and turn off the shyness cuz all of our moves make up for the silence" meaning that they got in a fight and they make up by doing it. but thats just my opinion...

OMG>> I luv Pete Wentz only for his hair though :) but I admire Patrick b/c he is just plain AMAZING!!!!! HE kicks every other singer out there. Plus, Andy and Joe.. they are amazing at their instruments, I LUV FOB!!!!!!! They are my fav band 'cause their lyrics are amazing, simple but really deep at the same time, they are all so talented and I couldn't believe if they never made it to stardom. <3<3<3<3
