Planning vengeance upon the Valar for his previous defeat, Morgoth promised Ungoliant all the treasure to fill her belly to ensure her cooperation. While the elves and Valar were away at a festival, Morgoth and Ungoliant snuck into the holiest of places, where the two trees grew, and Morgoth had Ungoliant destroy the trees and poison their roots. Then, desiring the Silmarils, Morgoth took Ungoliant to Feanors home where his father Finwe yet was. Slaying Finwe, they broke into the vaults and stole many of the treasures therein, including the Silmarils. Morgoth and Ungoliant fled across the sea, and she continued to grow as she fed, and demanded more and more of the treasure. But she noticed Morgoth fed her only from one hand, and demanded to be fed whatever was in the other - but he would not release the Silmarils. In the song, the verses are Ungoliant and the bridges are Morgoth. The choruses are probably the Balrogs, who come to the aid of Morgoth when Ungoliant attacks him. Is this review helpful to you?
