Insignificance Lyrics - Pearl Jam

Review The Song (3)

All in all it's no one's fault. Excuses turn to carbon walls.
Blame it all on chemical intercourse.
The swallowed seas of arrogance breathing in the thoughts of ten
thousand fools defy irreverence

The full moon is dead skin. The one down here's wearing thin.
So set up the ten pins as the human tide rolls in.
Like a ball that's spinning.

Bombs dropping down overhead. On the ground.
It's instilled to want to live.
Bombs dropping down. Please forget our hometown in our insignificance.

"Turn the jukebox up," he said. Dancing in irreverence.
Plays C3. Let the song protest.

The plates begin to shift. Perfect lefts come rolling in.
I was alone and far away.. ..ay. When I heard the band start playing.
On a lip, late take off.

Bombs dropping down overhead. Underground.
It's instilled to want to live.
Bombs dropping down. Please forgive our hometown in our insignificance.

Feel like resonance of distance. In the blood the iron lies.

It's instilled to want to live.
Bombs dropping down. Please forget our hometown in our insignificance.
Oh, in our insignificance, oh.

far from insignificance | Reviewer: Laura | 8/25/12

It really does say something when this has been the set song on my alarm for the past three fucking years. I just LOVE Pearl Jam and their music and what they stand for. ROCK ON!!!

Unforgettable concert | Reviewer: Milpool | 7/28/10

Hi Desiple13, I'm not sure about the whole meaning either, like many Pearl Jam songs I guess it's open to many interpretations. I just know that at the concert in Salzburg in 2000 they used it as a massive protest song - a far right party had just joined the Austrian government and many international bands cancelled their concerts. Pearl Jam decided not to after receiving many pledges that isolation was the last thing that would help in this situation. It seemed incredible that a band like Pearl Jam, the heroes of my teens, would perform in the small town I grew up in and comment on the current situation. "Please forget our hometown in our insignificance..."
