It could be a metaphor for people living life "like a vegetable". Once again "Give me the drug" is a metaphor of someone needing an external object to keep them sane. My friend wrote it and gave it to hs friend who works in the music management business. RA really liked the template and changed it to their own meaning but most of the lyrics are still the same.
