Yes it is racist. I dont mind his other songs, but this is just another colonialist attempt to demean and minimize Indigenous culture. it is a way of saying that Indigenous culture is only aout "tom toms" and "briefs", rather than a rich heritage and culture. It is a way of saying that the destruction of Indigenous culture as well as present day colonialism does not exist becuause Indigenous culture was simply "funny" (as some of you say)...very reminscent of the cigar store Indian. Also for the person who said that this song is about "back then" and not now...reading a fucking book...it wasnt like that "back then", nor was it this mystical time that is now there for the entertainment of a bunch of slack jawed yokel white guys!
It is racist. Look at it this way, what if he was singing "I'm gangsta from the ghetto, half Kenyan and Botswanian, my boo she's a chicken head, she's tight fo life; All my friends call me Ice T, king pin is my daddy, he moves weight for my auntie, she makes him sell all the time."
I loved this song when it first came out. It's actually my favorite Tim McGraw song. It's just a very funny song, he didn't mean anything out of it. I'm half-Cherokee Indian myself and I love it. Thanks.

This song gives me harmonization. It is the light at the end of the tunnel. I like the way it rocks, and I like the way it rolls. It can really knock it out. When the crowd hears this it roars like a lion.
THIS SONG WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE ANYTHING BUT A FUNNY SONG....TIM DID NOT GET SUED OVER IT....THEY PUT IN A PART OF ANOTHER SONG AND HAD TO PAY THE RAIDERS FOR THAT........ONE OF THE WRITERS WAS GENE SIMMONS THAT ALSO WROTE HAUNTED HOUSE BACK IN THE 60'S....IF YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW I KNOW ALL OF THIS , WELL THE OTHER WRITER WAS MY BROTHER...TOMMY BARNES....ANY DISCUSSION AND YOU CAN E MAIL ME....EWB2371@YAHOO.COM
