In the Evening Lyrics - Led Zeppelin
Review The Song (4)
In the evening, When the day is done
I'm looking for a woman, but the girl don't come
So don't let her, Play you for a fool
She don't show no pity baby, she don't make no rules
*Chorus: Oh, oh, I need your love, I need your love
Oh, I need your love, I just got to have
So don't you let her, Oh, get under your skin
It's only bad luck and trouble, From the day that you begin
I hear you crying in the darkness, Don't ask nobody's help
Ain't no pockets full of mercy baby, Cause you can only blame yourself
Oh it's simple, All the pain that you go through
You can turn away from fortune, fortune, Cause that's all that's left to you
It's lonely at the bottom, Man, it's dizzy at the top
But if you're standing in the middle, Ain't no way you're gonna stop
Oh whatever that your days may bring
No use hiding in a corner, Cause that won't change a thing
If you're dancing in the doldrums, One day soon, it's got to stop, it's got to stop
When you're the master of the off-chance, When you don't expect a lot

Great tune, not the best | Reviewer: Alberto Ortiz | 3/4/14
It's certainly true that Pagey spent more time getting on the heroin, so JPJ had to take the musical leadership, so the entire album is mainly Plant and Jonesey's work. I found the keyboards in this record to be quite overwealming and very monotonous. Its a shame that Jimmy couldnt do the trick anymore. The entire pieces of the LP kinda have this very heavy non-describable weird not cool vibe.
However, this particular song was quite heavy on their concerts at the mere 80's, you should check it out.
Unclear on the "In The Evening" lyrics | Reviewer: Nigel Ciera | 2/22/14
I've always wondered exactly what these lyrics were. Whomever typed these lyrics got more out of them than I would've gotten out of this song so congrats to you. My understanding of this album was that Jimmy Page and John Bonham were spending quite a lot of time getting drunk or high (Page with heroin) while John Paul Jones and Robert Plant were writing and recording this album. It's a good album but I'd hardly call it a great album. I'm sure it could've been much better had Jimmy been more aware, alert and involved in its writing and recording.

finally, i can see the lyrics | Reviewer: barabus | 12/31/07
Plant is not very clear on the verses for this song, but it's a good track, kind of monotonous after awhile, maybe not one of their better tracks, but I hear Page kind of slept alot when this album was made, JPJ did most of the work.
