Imagine Lyrics - A Perfect Circle

Review The Song (50)

Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...

Imagine there's no countries,
It isn't hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...

You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
and the world will be as one.

Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.

Imagine no possessions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.

NWO | Reviewer: Drew | 7/24/14

Ok. I think this is really about the NWO. The Beatles wrote it, I think they had the NWO in mind as well, but they were thinking it positive. I think the idea is a disaster, and I think MJK must think it is, too. No one ever is always peaceful. It's not realistic. Even if a majority tries to subdue a minority into submission to peaceful existence it causes the majority "peace lovers" to become overlords enslaving people who don't agree or better just killing them. We need the entire world to be of similar character, that would qualify as a utopia. As long as there is choice we will be at odds. I think that when God closes the chapter this journey of our physical existence and eliminates the need for choosing where our belief and faith rests, we will be left with 2 camps. Those on His side and those not. If you agree with everything under Him, choice is irrelevant, because the choice has already been made. The others with the character that says I don't want to serve the God who created me will be of the other camp, and removed from the situation. Humans can't do it. We would screw it all up. Only an absolute moral authority can, so it all comes down to what you believe.

fantastic cover | Reviewer: Bob | 11/10/12

The original Beatles version is an uplifting song about coming together.

This cover sings the same words, but the drastic changes in dynamics and tone suggest a much different tune.

At best, it's a desperate plea, and at worst a reflection on how inhuman our utopias are. Living for today? No countries, culture, nothing to die (or live) for? These things can be considered either a state of peace or a state of brainless, pointless hedonism.

Why? | Reviewer: Murdron | 3/19/12

Does anyone listen to the lyrics?
Does anyone cares what this song is saying?
Do these persons who have confidentially typed their own reviews down here even noticed and went further than certain words?
Look at you? Really look at yourselves...
You are arguing on what's right and what's not, who gives the shit whether you in a middle of a an Earth loves Christianity or you are an atheistic? Is it important? You are arguing over what the world should have? What other people should believe? and that's silly cause just a few lines above someone has shouted something like: STOP IT, NO POSSESSIONS OF ANY KIND. NO PREPOSSESSING OVER PEOPLE THOUGHTS no damn persuading anyone, let anyone be just be............

Be ashamed of yourself tool fans, cause you twist the meanings in the way you want..

Interpretion | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/11/12

What they are trying to say is that it is the differences between people that cause conflict, whether it be religious views, political views, race, or wealth. The only way to have true peace would to rid the world of it. The problem with religion itself is that people believe that they are right, despite lack of any evidence that they are. Where as being agnostic you do not believe or disclaim the possibility of a higher being due to unsubstantial evidence.

Badass version | Reviewer: Ouka | 12/23/11

You guys are silly, who cares what it means, it's a great song. Original was great and so is this version. :3 I'm reading some people on here are Christian and are offended by this song. I'm a Christian as well and I think this song is bad ass. :3 I like it cause it's also talking about world peace and isn't that what the Beatles where all into? The "imagine there's no heaven" part and all, geez don't be so offended, you guts talk like jackasses and that's why Christians get a bad rep. :/ look at the other lyrics like "imagine there's no contries." and "Imagine all the people sharing all the world" and such. It's not just talking about religion :/ a songs a song, get over it and move on with your life. Not to mean but, come on~

APC IS THE COOLEST! :3

Imagine APC cover | Reviewer: Steven Mailer | 7/26/11

@reviewer Emotive

Religion is wrong. At one point it may have been right but it has been twisted over and over again to justify evil to the point it has become a thing of evil. Laws about killing and thieving do not arise from divinity but reason. There IS a higher power. but your Christianity, Hinduism, Islam or any other synonyms have used his existence as a means of gaining power by controlling your mind. Religion next to money and pointless patriotism is the number one cause of world conflict.

CHILL OUT!! | Reviewer: who cares? | 7/21/11

For all the APC haters... the Beatles originally released this song yet its okay for them to sing this song mentioning religion but becuz APC has released controversial lyrics they are being criticized????? TO THE 13 YEAR OLD "GENIUS" down below...does that mean The Beatles were a part of the Illuminati as well?? Should I go harass Paul McCartney who is still living?

GREAT COVER !!! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/21/11

Wonderful cover ! I never thought a band could cover John Lennon's song Imagine as perfectly as A Perfect Circle did !
For those who think this is an offensive song or whatever, I think you just have to see the song in an other perspective than the religious one and go watch the video A Perfect Circle did of this song ! I think you'll see it differently and if you don't get it then.. well I'm sorry for you guys !!

You people sound like idiots | Reviewer: Emotive | 6/22/11

It's obvious something here isnt right. Im telling you : theyre talking about no religion, people living in peace, changing the world : saying "I hope someday youll join us and theworld as one." Its so obvious that its hard to notice. open your eyes and think of it in a different outlook. every where you turn you can find a problem. turning your back on them will solve nothing : instead try to look at it from a different view and the answer will be as clear as the aurora of a waterfall. stop the foolishness and realise theyre just another chapter of a force trying to gain complete power of the world and create a new world order.... They have to be part of the Illuminati. think about it, they beleive religion is the base of our problems and are trying to convince us their beleifs of it being "wrong" is correct. They seem to be nothing more than mere pawns or puppets of the orginizations manipulating our major influences over the world as we know it. trust me what they want will eventually erase us of our free will to choose whether we want A RELIGION or not. open your eyes and dont let a mere band or anything influence you, your thoughts or your actions. I ensure you it will be the worst decision you ever made. Sincerily - A person who only wants you to live a better life with your own freedom : Elliott L. P.S. Im only 13 and know far more than any of you can comprehend.

the problem with religion isnt religion itself, its the people that follow it. majority of the people that follow it are born into it and never think outside of it. Yet, they walk around like they are the chosen ones and know absolutely everything about spirituality. Let me inform you on something sir, True spirituality can only be felt through ones self. no book, no man should tell you otherwise.

Christian input | Reviewer: Seth | 5/25/11

From a christian view this is sort of offensive. Im a very enlightened Christian and I embrace it through my own way. Most atheist or agnostic people will admit or state at least one bad example of Christianity. And being one myself I will definitely say that there are people who ruin it. My thing is that don't give up on Religion because of that. I mean think of it, religion is massive. You know in any even concert, meeting, school, or whatever somebody has to ruin it. With Christianity spreading so far is that it increases those chances of idiots. I believe in God and Heaven, rather you do or not is your choice. I would prefer you to, but to force you is a communistic approach to it. My point is that, there are people that ruin Christianity like there are people who ruin driving. Driving is fun right? Going where you want to go, meeting friends, racing or whatever. However, there is always some idiots who did not deserve to be able to yet they do. And they kill, injure and ruin people's lives! Those "Christians" that like Westboro Baptist Church and other radicals are poisoning Christianity and God doesnt like that. So have know fear of that, they will be punished for what they have done. I hope this helps someone.

Embrace it | Reviewer: serenity | 4/7/11

loveley song but those who commented about religion and world peace? It's not going to happen. Human beings are ment to have some sort of wall (goverment) that keeps them in line even though within that wall is complete chaos....all you gotta do...is to let go of the wall and fall into the pit of the chaos..embrace it because thats the closest you'll get to god and peace. Embrace whats chaotic.

there aint no rulez and there aint no lord christ is dead and i am bored! | Reviewer: shanx | 3/30/11

simple | Reviewer: David | 12/20/10

listen.. just listen. isnt it beautifull? no possessions, no one man controlling a civilization, no bullshit, just peace and prosperity. i mean look at were we are. we are mules to teh government. we work our asses off to get what we think is good, but really nobody is benafitting from our hard work more than the government. but unfortunatly there is to much of a population just to drop in the blink of an eye.. if we were to do this, many would die. which wouldnt nessasserily be a bad thing if we were to accomplish a pure "utopia" for civilization(i know i cant spell for shit) but here me out for a second. who has heard of the "illuminati"? anyone? hmm.. what does this sound like? the illuminati are apparently still here, and alwayse have been. have hope my brotherin, one day peace will come to all. just BELIEVE.

Say what you will | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/14/10

All these "if, then" statements, you are over analyzing the song. Just sit back and read/listen to the lyrics... Do you not see the word IMAGINE? It's only the title..... Now if you did take the time to actually imagine the portrait he's trying to paint, then(I know, another "if, then" statement, tough trend to break) you would not be creating all these downfalls to the hypothetical, yet beautiful scenario that this song has created for us.
