If Everyone Cared Lyrics - Nickelback

Review The Song (55)

From underneath the trees, we watch the sky
Confusing stars for satellites
I never dreamed that you'd be mine
But here we are, we're here tonight

Singing Amen, I, I'm alive
Singing Amen, I, I'm alive

[Chorus:]
If everyone cared and nobody cried
If everyone loved and nobody lied
If everyone shared and swallowed their pride
Then we'd see the day when nobody died

And I'm singing

Amen I, Amen I, I'm alive
Amen I, Amen I, Amen I, I'm alive

And in the air the fireflies
Our only light in paradise
We'll show the world they were wrong
And teach them all to sing along

Singing Amen, I, I'm alive
Singing Amen, I, I'm alive
(I'm alive)

[Chorus x2]

And as we lie beneath the stars
We realize how small we are
If they could love like you and me
Imagine what the world could be

If everyone cared and nobody cried
If everyone loved and nobody lied
If everyone shared and swallowed their pride
Then we'd see the day when nobody died
When nobody died...

[Chorus]

We'd see the day, we'd see the day
When nobody died
We'd see the day, we'd see the day
When nobody died
We'd see the day when nobody died

First there is no liking botton otherwise there is a comment of an U.S. Air Force... which is so beautiful..

and second there is many people asking about
"And as we lie beneath the stars
We realize how small we are
If they could love like you and me
Imagine what the world could be"
what does its mean... what the heck..

i want to tell people just think about that moment when u laied on the grass and watching the stars suddenly u realize that we are so small in this world.. Tons of things is much bigger then us then why we fight with each other why we lose our love ones... natural death is a other thing no can change this but suicide bombs, rapes, gun shots we can change this... our one decision can make difference.. this is the thing according me..

think about it... | Reviewer: dreamer | 5/8/12

well i know alot of people have alot of different opinions, but the best types of songs are the ones with multiple meanings. i think that this particular one is implying that if everyone actually gave a damn in this world, and they didnt just go around killing people and etc cuz you know what i mean, then we can live in peace and see a day where nobody died. LISTEN-> When the power of love trumps the love of power the world will be at peace. Just die trying people. Im also a fan of Nickelback:)

At the people who say death is inevitable. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/6/11

Death is not inevitable if the scientist of the world actually collaborated instead of seeking recognition we'd have a world where science could keep everyone alive. Just saying. =]

Guys... | Reviewer: asdasdas | 10/10/11

When he said "nobody dies" he didnt talk about old age dead, or something like that. he talks about war, rape etc...

So, if you hate, find a good reason and dont let me to knock my head to the wall.

Second -

"And as we lie beneath the stars
We realize how small we are
If they could love like you and me
Imagine what the world could be"

When he sing this, he means he like the person. so he never will hurt him, so if everyone will love everyone, the world can be a great place.

Don't be assholes.

Really? | Reviewer: Kiera | 9/15/11

Are people really that closed minded? Can they not realize that it is not meant to be taken literally? Death is inevitable. Where life exists so must death. If nobody were to die then there would be no room for life.

Imagine that, in a city or country, nobody ever died, but there were still babies being born. What would happen? There would be no more room or food to support the population. So therefore death must exist to prevent that and balance things.

This song is stating, if not directly, that if people were to care about each other and set aside whatever warped sense of pride exists to see from other peoples view points then the death rate would decrease dramatically. It is talking about death through things like war, rape, and abuse, not old age or heart attacks. There are things that not even the best hospitals can control. I saw cancer being mentioned earlier, but that is uncontrollable. There are measures to prevent it, but no way to cure things like that. When God (if you believe in him) decides that your time is up nothing can truly help.

While it is up to you what you think about the lyrics themselves the meaning stays the same. It's asking you to imagine what our world could become if people could look beyond things like race, religion, and sexual preferences. Many people claim not to care about those things, but everyone gains some sort of preconceived notions from their parents, their friends, or their past experiences.

I applaud those that can see the meaning behind the lyrics and are able to admit it even if they do not enjoy the song. Besides if you don't like the song and/or band, why are you looking up and commenting on their lyrics? I personally just enjoy the sound of the music itself. The lyrics are unimportant when simply listening to the sound itself. One of the reasons I dislike rap. The sound isn't pleasant enough when I'm not listening to any of the words.

If you read this far, whether you agree with me or are insulted, I left my email. If you truly wish to complain about me send an email so I can laugh at you, or if you just wish to discuss my views on the song I will gladly do that as well.

Thank you for your valuable time wasted on reading the opinion of a single person.

Haha, people are weird. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/18/11

Wow, really? If you think this is the worst lyricism ever;
1. Dont listen to the song, nobody cares what you think.
2. Nobody also should care on whether you post a comment to how much you hate this song.

But i still thing Head Welch is better ;)
And yes, i AM a fan of nickelback, and i DO like this dong :D

TO THE ONE WHO HAS LOST HIS FRIEND | Reviewer: GEORGE FROM GREECE | 4/9/10

I AM SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS BUT YOU KNOW I HAVE LOST MY UNCLE TOO A MONTH NOW.YOU HAVENT UNDERSTAND QUITE THE LYRICS . . .'NOBODY DIED' IT IS USED METAPHORICALLY.NICKELBACK DONT REFER TO DEATH BUT TO THE LIFE.THE WAY WE LIVE NOWDAYS IS LIKE EVERYBODY DIES EVERYDAY.WHEN YOU LOVE YOU WILL RECEIVE LOVE.AND SOMEONE SAID THAT "And as we lie beneath the stars
We realize how small we are
If they could love like you and me
Imagine what the world could be"

Seriously? WHAT the heck.

HE REPRESENTS AN IDEAL LOVE OR A TRUSTFULL LOVE BETWEEN TWO LOVERS OR BETWEEN TWO REAL FRIENDS. IF THERE WAS SUCH A LOVE THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN HAPINESS INTO THIS F***ING SHITTY WORLD

Worse lyricism | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/21/09

Ever. Seriously, everything written in this song is a pathetic attempt to wrong. Much as I agree with it's message, I know it was written to make money. Written HORRIBLY to make money, that is. How cheap.

"And as we lie beneath the stars
We realize how small we are
If they could love like you and me
Imagine what the world could be"

Seriously? WHAT the heck.

to Khrushchev | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/8/09

I believe that the no one will die part is directed to those who die through war, famine, poverty, conspiracy, rivalry hatred and so on. death through natural casuses is inevitable. if you believe in God then he has taken them if not, its the battle of the strongest. thats my thought

Hate to ruin the happiness parade: | Reviewer: Khrushchev | 2/15/09

I used to love this song. Until today. When I realized people will eventually die no matter our disposition towards them.

Natural disasters, terminal illness/communicable disease, old age, etc.

I mean, "If Everyone Cared" is a nice song, true, but "We'd see the day when nobody died"...really? Really?

Maybe I'm just bitter because one of my friends recently died at age 18 from cancer, and everyone cared. It just didn't help him in the end.

Alright, continue with the happiness fest.

if everyone cared.... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/16/08

God does so many wonderful things for us everyday; this song just says that we need to help out too. if everyone cared, the world would be even better. People can't just sit around and gossip about "what God did for them today;"they have to actually make an effort to help others too in return. A small group of people can make big changes.

whoa | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/5/08

Amazing | Reviewer: Brian | 1/2/08

Simply incredible. My wife did not even like Nickelback until I practically taped her to a chair and made her listen to this song. The lines "If they could love like you and me, imagine what the world could be..." went by and she burst into tears. It's a song that makes anyone with a conscience realize how twisted the world is. Nick Thomas... thank you for this song. It's a masterpiece.
