Review The Song (34)Print the Lyrics
Ah, ah
Is it true
What they say of you

Gonna call the President
Gonna call a Private Eye
Gonna get the IRS
Gonna need the FBI

There's not anymore that I can do
All the reasons that you gave
I'd follow you
To where you'd lead and if that be the end of time its true

Wouldnt be the first time I been WRONG
Wouldnt be the last I'M SURE, I've Known
With all the rumors I could tell,
Some things didn't work so well

Well anyway, it feels the same

As when you first told me you were gone,
So long ago but I still held on
Through all the Motions, the Love and the Sex
And thats the truth, and here's the worst yet

Would it even matter the things that I'd say
You made your mind up and gone anyway
And there's no use now in dragging it on
Should've seen it coming all along

Well it’s true....ooh....I had,
My doubts of you

Gonna call the President
Gonna call myself a Private Eye
Gonna need the IRS
Gonna get the FBI
Gonna make this a federal case
Gonna wave it right down in your face
Read it baby with your morning news
With a sweet hangover
And the headlines too, now

Ah ah

I bet you think I'm doing this all for my health
I should've looked again babe at somebody else
Feelin' like I'm done way more than wrong
Feelin' like I'm livin' inside of this song
Feelin' like I'm just too tired to care
Feelin' like I done more than my share
Could it be the way that I carried on
Like a broken record for so long

And I do
Ooh, oh,
I'm Gonna call the President,
I'm gonna call a private Eye
Gonna get the IRS,
Gonna need myself the FBI.

Oooh, What shall I do,
If I gave my heart to you?
It's such a crime you know it's true

Gonna call the president
Gonna need myself a private eye
Ooh, gonna need the IRS
Gonna get the FBI
Gonna make it a federal case
Gonna wave it right down in your face
Read it baby with your morning news
With a sweet hangover and the headlines too

There's not anymore that I can do

THE MUSIC! THATS IT! NOT WHO IS NOT PLAYING/PERFORMING IT! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/10/09

it shouldn't-but it still amazes me how prejudiced and closed minded people can be about a piece of art.so much so that issues far from the music not only taint their opinions about the music, but also completely override their ability to simply listen to & form an unbiased opinion on a particular piece.it is painfully clear that a lot of opinions i read about this album are not really a response to what people are hearing in the music.i've read over & over how "this isn't G&R","without Slash it sucks",it goes on & fucking on with this or that reason why the music that is on this album is not worthy;or is somehow, not music at all, simply because of the artists that are involved,or even more to the point somehow, artists that are not.i just have got no understanding of this.myself personally, have been a guns fan for 20 years +,& was very upset when i heard the original Guns had split.truthfully,i would love to see the original lineup show up on stage togethor.WOULD BE FUCKING AWESOME.However, that is topic discussion, music is music. Two seperate, different things.myself,as i listen, i find wholeheartedly that it is great music!great fucking music.& it undoubtetly is just that-THE MUSIC-.so ill leave it for the rest of you all to be pissed about things other than music.would it help if bands didnt have names?if you could just listen to music & base an opinion solely on that music.maybe im wrong, maybe the fact that two men who were apparantly very close at 1 time, but are no longer friends is actually a factor in the finished product.its fucking ridiculous, opinions should be based on the music;as it is put out there, instead of dismissing a piece of art based on who is NOT playing or performing it.ugh!listen to the music, listen to it.its great fuckin music.don't be dumb!block all the shit that doesn't even matter out & just listen to it.the music matters.the fact that people play music togethor & the fact that people dont play music togethor has nothing whatsoever to do with the finished product.figure it out,& release yourself,be free to enjoy!go on!CHINESE DEMOCRACY AWAITS YOU!!!

It's a crazy album to listen to. It sounds like a lot like old guns at times but the spirit is very different, Chinese democracy is possibly a lyrical high watermark for the GNR name but we need Slash back on the guitar. Seriously, I can't be the only one who hates most of the guitar work on this album. It's usually tuned so high that it just becomes piercing and annoying. A great example is the guitar solo in "Better". I'm a rocker, I like to listen to my music loud, but this fucking guitar is killing me.

uh | Reviewer: CRASHDiet | 4/5/09

Really, Chinese Democracy isn't that bad of a album, but i think almost every Guns N' Roses fan would agree that IT'D BE ALOT BETTER IF IT HAD AT LEAST SLASH BACK, MAYBE EVEN THE BEST GNR ALBUM IF IT HAD EVERYONE.. but the way things are going, it looks like that'll never happen

honestly, i think Axl needs Slash more than Slash will EVER need Axl

i miss slash and duff | Reviewer: capone | 1/30/09

look fellas...i loved the old GnR more than anything, slash..duff...even the replacement dummer ( steven adler was on appetite for destruction, best album in the world) but they had thier problems and split up, im not going to knock this song bcus of that..sure it could have been BETTER with them but shit happens.. stil a pretty solid album in my eyes, and if the original cast was stil w axl then im sure this would be thier 10th or so album by now..so if you havnt heard it yet then enjoy, and dont say its not gnr, bcus noone in the world today could put up another destruction album with welcome to the jungle or my personal fav, night train.

"No one ever told me when I was alone,
They just thought I'd know better.. better..."
when you listen to this part of the song...c'mon, i do find it difficult to compare it to november rain's "Don't ya think that you need somebody
Don't ya think that you need someone
Everybody needs somebody
You're not the only one
You're not the only one" last part.
it's actually listenin to britney or someshin like that.
The band disolved..too bad. guns and roses is guns and roses. this is Axl tryin to show the world he can still produce high notes....but c'mon...the whole cd??? much too girly screamin.
Best song ever: Locomotive. to tell the truth..I love all Guns and Roses songs. but this Song is like all the music the band could do in only one song. i still listen, and will always do, to all songs...my favorite ones are Paradise city, Estranged and of course Locomotive.

interesting v1.1 | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/5/08

idiots this isnt guns n roses but it is good, its more of an axl rose solo record, it doesnt have the grandosity of estranged nor the raw power of welcome to the jungle, it is the 5th best record, after appetite, use ur illusion 2, 1, g n r lies , then here it comes their fifth best record lol

and they have already world toured for chinese democracy and have played most of the songs live anyway, madagascar, irs, street of dreams aka the blues, there was a time, better and chinese democracy, i went to the concert !

Axl is exceptional, period! | Reviewer: Lynde L. Salgados | 12/5/08

as a local rocker here in the philippines, there's only one rock icon in the universe that i can certify to be the best..and thats AXL ROSE!!! There are so many who love Axl in our country and certainly am one if not the most solid fan til the end. Chinese demo esp the songs Better, IRS, Street of Dreams, Madagascar, TWAT all kick ass though am very unfortunate to have only heard it being leaked for simetimes. Folks give us the idea about best buy and we will buy all of Axl's albums up to our last cents. Apart from the metal screech..we do luv Axl's melancholy part in all his songs--old and news ones. MABUHAY ka AXL with or without GnR, except Izzy Stradlin!!! Lendrix-Shirov from Cagayan de Oro City

haters be gone | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/28/08

This is one of the hottest tracks on the album. Axl tells it like it is! All of the original members bailed out on him throughout the years and who is left to carry on the legacy we know as GNR? He has done the best he could with this album, even though it took 9 to 14 effing years, it is one of the best Guns albums that is out.

About the song | Reviewer: GnR fan | 10/28/08

Iv'e read most of this page and it talks about the old GNR and the new GNR. let's admit it when it was slash and axl, they were on top of their game. When slash quit, the band sort of "went" with slash. But with this new album coming out, OH BABY! it's going to make great tunes, just as big as welecome to the jungle and november rain.

Imagine the videos coming out, better yet the world tours.

Mock my words, GnR is back...
we're in the fucking jungle now baby!

SUX | Reviewer: RockloverForever | 10/16/08

1. Axl sounds like my granny these days

2. The lyrics neither have the maturity nor the vulgarity that would have done justice to the name GnFnR

3. Like all the other tracks, even this track sounds like Madonna or Britney's. Only in the middle for a while it sounds a bit like a rock song.(that too, only this song;all others are more terrible)

4. Contraband was no AFD but was much much better than CHINESE DEMOCRACY
