Never was a man to make a name on promises
Never felt the urge to stake a claim
'Till I looked in your eyes...I've never really known
(In your eyes)the meanin' of it all
In your eyes I answer to the call
I been taken by the magic after all
Walkin' in the shadow of the names...relationships gone by
Thinkin' 'bout the plot that never changed
'Till I looked in your eyes...I've never really known
In your eyes, your thoughts I call my own
See your eyes shine on me as we go
So they lead me as we're windin' down the road
We can make it so fine
Take it time after time
Make it open wide
We go side by side
Always felt the loser, outa place...good luck would pass me by
Never knew the meanin' to the chase
'Till I looked in your eyes...I've lost but now I know
In your eyes I've found my chaperone
Special eyes--they touch the afterglow
They can make me see the logic of it all

Review about IN YOUR EYES I love this song | Reviewer: Steve | 1/19/2008
I prefer listening to harder, faster songs than "In Your Eyes" (Billy Squier's "Whadda You Want from Me" is a great example). I was playing a vinyl copy of the album "Emotions in Motion". When the next to last track on side one started, I had to stop what I was doing (re-listing unsold LPs on eBay) and listen. I know I'd heard it before, many years ago, but being a soft, slow song, I probably hadn't paid it much mind. I guess I can thank maturity for helping me appreciate such a great, simple song. I grabbed my Ovation "Balladeer" and started learning the chord changes. Then I pointed my browser to sing365.com so I could sing along. The last lines of each stanza are the trickiest as far as playing and singing at the same time. But with enough practice (I already played it for over an hour last night), I'll get it. This is simply a beautiful long song, played and sung by someone who can rock out with the best of them. I wish Billy Squier was playing somewhere -- I haven't seen him play live since I saw his band Piper open for Kiss.
