I Hate Everything Lyrics - George Strait
Review The Song (10)
He was sitting there beside me throwing doubles down
When he ordered up his third one he looked around
Then he looked at me, said I do believe I'll have one more
He said I hate this bar and I hate to drink
But on second thought tonight I think I hate everything
Then he opened up his bill-fold and threw a 20 down
And the faded photograph fell out and hit the ground
And I picked it up, he said thank you bud, I put it in his hand
He said I probably ought to throw this one away
'Cause she's the reason I feel this way, I hate everything
[Chorus:]
I hate my job, I hate my life and if it weren't for my two kids I'd hate my ex-wife
I know I should move on and try to start again
But I just can't get over her leaving me for him
Then he shook his head and looked down at his ring and said I hate everything
He said one bedroom apartment where I get my mail
Is really not a home, it's more like a jail
With a swimming pool and a parking lot view, man that's just great
I hate summer, winter, fall and spring
Red and yellow, purple, blue and green, I hate everything
[Chorus]
So I pulled out my phone and I called my house
I said babe I'm comin' home, we're gonna work this out
I paid for his drinks and I told him thanks, thanks for everything
When he ordered up his third one he looked around

I am impressed | Reviewer: Chancellor Starmichael | 5/22/2008
I am impressed because I am a Hip Hop Artist and I did not grow up listening to country music but this song caught me. This song has an amazing story in it that I think we all can learn from. I totally get it, the moral is someone always has it harder than you so fix your situation if you love the one you are with... Poetic Genious

We use to listen to this song all the time. He use to love it.. and I know it reminds him of me. I havent seen him in a long time... but last night I did. He dropped off my son christmas eve last night. I got into his car and he put this song on... and he held eachother so tightly through out the whole song... and it felt soooo goood. but we cried...cuz we missed eachother.
this is the saddest song..and a good one..

A song this good...the writers deserve acknowledgement, even if you don't give them anything else...

George Strait has had a ton of wonderful songs but to tell you the truth I am not a big fan of this one it just sends an odd message to everyone. All though the melody is extremely catchy and it makes me love this song even more so! So over all I would put this song up there with Write This Down.

George Strait keeps the hits coming. All though this particular song hits close to home, it mimics my brother-in-laws life and I get a little emotional thinking of him. Decade after decade George keeps making songs that make me stop whatever I am doing so I don't miss a lyric. He is truly a star and sends a message that you think of long after the song is over
Great music | Reviewer: Katherine Harvey | 8/2/2004
I like everything he does, but I think this one is really superb. It tends to make you stop and think about things before you act. Keep up the good work George.
Great song! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/22/2004
In my opinion, the last few George Strait singles have been stinkers....this one breaks that streak! It reminds me of some of his big hits in the early/mid 90's. This is a powerful song, and maybe will change some lives and save some marriages.
