Against Me! I Am Citizen Lyrics

Last updated: 07/18/2008 11:00:00 AM

Christ we were dying in the streets running one last anthem through your heart. Swearing life on liberty I'll take a dream an ideal die sound in a lonely death. Pass this compromise on...... My regrets to Columbus (GA) and nothing more when Reagan became the final word. Just one month later they shot Lennon dead, will anybody cry for me? All nations claim until they day that I die, I am citizen. We'll let music rule our life, celebrate shortcomings. If it's not angry young and beautiful, I don't want any part of it. Who do you have to cheat to get what you want, who do you lie to, to get what you need? You deserve everything you got coming to you...

The beautiful theme to my young angry life... | Reviewer: Kyle K. | 7/18/2008

This was the song that when I heard solidified AgainstMe! (more or less Tom Gabel) as one the greatest songwriters and philosphers in recent memory. His anger and passion in this song shine through and make this song one of the songs that I live my life by (so much so that I have "I AM CITIZEN" tattooed on my body) Fucking awesome! If you can get your hands on one of their original EP's then I highly suggest if not for this song then for Walking Is Still Honest. It's well worth the nearly $100 you'll pay for it!
