Hyper Music Lyrics - Muse

Review The Song (7)

Your golden lies
Feed my role
In this forgotten space race
Under my control
Who's returned from the dead?
Who remains (Just to spit it in your face)

You know that I don't want you
and I never did
I don't want you
and I never will

You wanted more
Than I was worth
And you think I was scared, yeah
And you needed proof
Who really cares anymore?
Who restrains?(Just to spit it in your face)

You know that I don't love you and I never did
I don't want you and I never will

great song | Reviewer: LOBO | 8/9/12

This is a great song, about lyrics meaning it doesnt really matters if they a love song or a religious or a cold war reference. Art, as music is and as the lyrics are, has many interpretations any one of them is a valid one. So everyone be happy and enjoy music n sing out loud.

Greetings from my forgotten space.

wasting time | Reviewer: Tom Quixote | 3/29/11

I guess, I'm just wasting my time, but then thinking of what I've experienced, this song comes to mind again and again. It started with nothing more than "I don't love you and I never did" (I'm German, so it's easy to miss something) These lines kinda freed me from "her" realizing, it never had been love, just my hope for it.
Her golden lies, and most of what she spoke was hollow promises, seemed to give me the chance to literally save her. (MY race in forgotten space)
And AS her saviour I imagined I was in control.
Her treatments might have killed a lesser man, 'though at that time I'd never have thought, someone lesser than me existed. The things she told me about other men, sometimes left me with a stomach aching for three days. And indeed she had "lost" two men by death, one by cancer, the other had committed suicide, years after she had left him.
But like a phoenix from the ashes I arose (returned from the dead) stronger than ever or at least stronger than the last 10 years.
She's someone being very depending on social status. And that's one of my many failings. And indeed, she was sure about having scared me, because I had had to find out so much about myself. "I scared you, because I dug too deep", she said. On the contrary: I dug further, now I knew the direction. The proof she needed, she gave herself, deciding I was a stalker- (I'll never understand, how to take a person a stalker not contacting oneself in a third of a year...)
Now if I feel like a phoenix- writing poems and short stories as an amateur- the author of this song really has returned from the dead himself. No need for Jesus or the U.S.

Government | Reviewer: lazombo | 12/20/10

I heard the theories about this song being anti-religious which was what I was afraid that the song was about when I first listened to it. However the Cold War idea gave me a knew outlook on what the song may be about. It could very well be about the way America doesn't want any countries getting more powerful then they are and trying to repress any countries that seem to be getting an upper hand.
Your golden lies Feed my role: Bluffing about your power gives me purpose
In this forgotten space race Under my control: References the US trying to get to the moon before Russia to prove there strength in technology
Who's returned from the dead?
Who remains (Just to spit it in your face):Basically if you start a war to prove superiority your countries people will die for something as simple as to show off and the people who are still alive would spit in the face of the people who started the war.
You know that I don't want you and I never did I don't want you and I never will: No one wants a war.
You wanted more Than I was worth And you think I was scared, yeah And you needed proof: They pretend that the countries are more powerful then they appear but the Us truly thinks their enemies are scared and want to keep it that way so they test how afraid the other countries really are.
Who really cares anymore? Who restrains?(Just to spit it in your face):No one cares how powerful you are anymore everyone just wants to live peacefully without being repressed from there own advances.

blah | Reviewer: Gyohdon | 2/6/10

I think these lyrics are about the Cold War.

The golden lies, are the propaganda the US and USSR spread out about eachother, which they then used to feed their roles. 'Look they're lying about us!!', using it to their advantage.
The forgotten space race is obviously about the race to the moon.
Who remains, refers to the leaders of the US and the USSR from the period of the Cold War not being here anymore.

The next part is about their hatred for eachother and how they will never be allies.

And then comes the part where the two sides bluff eachotherm, Like with the Cuba Crisis.

Rejection | Reviewer: Miriam | 5/13/07

This song has their best lyrics, although they are not as powerful or as clever, it is a very relatable song because everyone, at least most people have experienced rejection at some point in their lives and felt this kind of anger. The song portrays anger very well and can help to release people from these feelings of worthlessness. Amazing song, incredible music, enjoyable lyrics!
