This is one of my top 5 favorite songs of all time. I don't care who wrote because the Animals play it so bloody well. I want this song to be played at my funeral. Also, this song would be great to listen to during a zombie attack. I do not know why but it would be, I think. By the way, Left 4 Dead 2 is set in New Orleans,so yeah. Just thought I'd say that. Maybe I'm an idiot.

i like the way the song starts strongly with the slow side to side feeling, the guitar so grispy, and then comes the singers voice, sound like drovned to jack&daniels sound of man like the songs one... organs are awesome and no one can never forget this classic..

Actually, the house of The Rising Sun was a brothel in New Orleans back in the late 1800's. Also, the original lyrics were written by Georgia Turner and Bert Martin, and first recorded back in the 1920's. The original lyrics are about a girl "working" in the brothel.
