She rises with the sunset
She wonders, "When will this end?"
The world is full of money, full of money
She goes out unprotected
She doesn't listen to her best friend
It's only for the money, for the money, for the money
She doesn't want to be respected
Reality's her best friend
She needs the extra money, extra money
In the city, the town, and the household
So many things go unreported
So many things her eyes have seen, eyes have seen, eyes have seen
Meet me in the hotel lobby
Everybody's looking lonely
Watch me as I walk in slowly
When your eyes meet mine
It's in the mirrors of the hotel lobby
This is not what she expected
Her hopes, they stretch and they bend
Wrinkle like paper money, paper money
In the city, the town, and the household
So many things can be distorted
So if you want a true life story, bring the money, bring the money
Meet me in the hotel lobby
Everybody's looking lonely
Watch me as I walk in slowly
When your eyes meet mine
It's in the mirrors of the hotel lobby
Meet me in the hotel lobby
Everybody's looking lonely
Watch me as I walk in slowly
When your eyes meet mine
It's in the mirrors of the hotel lobby

Review about Hotel Lobby Utada's range is amazing | Reviewer: C | 2/25/2008
It's a great song, and again Hikki tackles an uncomfortable social issue. I think the song's about a woman who sells herself, and nobody really acknowledges her reality or looks her in the eye ("in the mirrors of the hotel lobby"). Her references to the "city, town, household" are other examples of ways the mistreatment of women is overlooked because we'd rather not have to think about it. Of course, beautifully delivered as always.
A brightspot in a black hole. | Reviewer: Brett | 7/18/2007
I love Hikki's music. Shes one of the best vocalists I've ever heard, and pretty much everyone should check her out.
Just don't let "Exodus" be your first taste of her.
Def Jam really failed when it came to handling her American debut, with most of the songs being rather lame compared to her Japanese ones. The album wasn't a total failure, however, as it contained gems like "Devil Inside", "Exodus '04", "Kremlin Dusk" and of course, the song in question, "Hotel Lobby".
The song starts out with a pounding, but very relaxing beat, along with an incredible melody. Hikki's voice is great in this song as well, much more so in the chorus than in the verses, however. She sounds a bit flat in the main verses, but shes still good. Anyways, the lyrics bug me a bit, especially the overkill of "money", but its all good. The chorus is the best part of the song, however. Her voice is perfect, and the bassline and melody are just amazing.
Definitely worth a download. Just don't buy the CD itself. You WILL be disappointed. Get "Ultra Blue" instead.
Awesome | Reviewer: Yuna | 4/28/2007
This song is awesome, so are the others on the cd Exodus! If you are IN LOVE with this song, you will LOVE her other songs!
Yeah this is DEFINIETLY a great song.. I am in love with the music and beats and Utada's voice is of course beautiful as always lol hmm the lyrics.. well I take a few things from it my first impression and readers may kill me is it's a girl who is sleping around in the city or a hotel to earn extra money because she needs it to live and she is realizing like.. as she looks in the mirror how bad this is and she wishes someone would come along and see her in the mirror and help her somehow.. that's what I sorta take out of the lyrics.. it's a song about struggling to survive in my opinion of course I could be totally off but as I said it's just one viewpoint. Anywayz, awesome song off the CD I rated it 5 stars on I-tunes ^_^

I absolutely love this song off of "Exodus". I'd really like to know what inspired the song.
It's got a great beat and the lyrics aren't about cliched 'love' and romance. and of course, Utada's vocals are perfect. this album shows them off well.
