Paul Simon was on a tour performing at various venues in England. When he wrote this song he was on the railway station at Widnes, Cheshire, waiting for a train to go to his next gig.

At the time he was in a relationship with an English girl, Kathy Chitty. Kathy broke up with Paul Simon when he began to get famous, because she could not handle that part.

This was a few miles from where I grew up as a child.

Bind me ot to the pasture ,chain me not to the plow, set me free to find my calling, and I'll be homeward bound in time. If you find its me you missing, if your hoping I'll return to your thoughts I'll soon be listening, in the road I'll stop and turn.
