Home Lyrics - Marc Broussard

Review The Song (16)

Hmmmmm...
Rollin' down the road
Goin' nowhere
Guitar packed in the trunk
Somewhere 'round mile marker 112
Papa started hummin' da funk
I got a jones in my bones
Before we know, we be singing this melody
Stopped the car, pulled out the guitar
Halfway to New Orleans

Said take me ho-whoa-oh-ome
Take me ho-whoa-oh-ome

Could feel the sun about to rise
When I realized we had nothing to fear
It's just me and my daddy and a kid named Cope
makin music that nobody would hear
sponsored links
And then the sun let up and it spent the night
Spillin' over our jubilee
10,000 cars by the side of the road
Groovin' far as the eye can see

Said take me ho-whoa-oh-ome
Take me ho-whoa-oh-ome
Said take me ho-whoa-oh-ome
Said take me ho-whoa-oh-ome

Said this greyhound is delta bound mama
Baby boy done finally found
Said this greyhound is delta bound mama
Baby boy done finally found his way ho-whoa-oh-ome
Said take me ho-whoa-oh-ome

Here we go..

Hot damn you should've felt the groove
Like I was swimmin' in a sea o' soul
The sun was risin' and the day was hot
And we all about to lose control
My daddy turned his face up towards the sky
And I knew that there was nothin' to lose
I felt the crowd breathe in and I closed my eyes
And we disappeared into the groove

Said take me ho-whoa-oh-ome
Said take me ho-whoa-oh-ome
Take me ho-whoa-oh-ome
Said take me ho-whoa-oh-ome

Straight from the water
Straight from the water children

Straight from the water
Straight from the water children

Straight from the water
Straight from the water children

Straight from the water
Straight from the water children

You don't know nothin' about this!
Take me home, home, home, home
Said take me ho-whoa-oh-ome
Said take me ho-whoa-oh-ome
Said take me ho-whoa-oh-ome
Said take me ho-whoa-oh-ome
Said take me ho-whoa-oh-ome
Said take me ho-whoa-oh-ome
Take me ho-whoa-oh-ome
Said take me ho-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-whoa-ooh-oh-ome

amazing | Reviewer: kb | 7/23/09

This song expresses the emotion of coming home after Katrina better than any documentary I've seen. It starts happy and hopeful, then there's the shock and eruption of disbelief, anger, the heat, the spiritualism, the rawness of the whole situation. Brilliant. He's an old soul with the energy of the kid he is.

Beautiful song... | Reviewer: Libby | 3/12/09

I fell in love with this song, when it FIRST came out in 2004ish. I was going to school in Nashville at the time (I'm from New York.) The whole time I was down south, this album was my favorie, still is... After about 3 years, I will be moving back to Nashville, because even though I'm a southern girl at heart. I've been playing this song over and over... "TAKE ME HOME!" hee hee.

Soulful song! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/14/08

I saw the video for this song on TV and immediately went to iTunes and bought the song. In a few words I must say "I love it." Great song! I like everything about it. From his raspy voice to the great drum beat and all the rest this song is a winner.

Little known fact | Reviewer: Jon | 6/26/07

Before Marc ever had a deal, he would go into his local Popeyes and sing for the employees. They would reward him and his friends with free food. He's always had that voice, didn't have to smoke a pack and a half a day to get it. God bless this guy.

stevie ray lives on with marc! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/2/07

better than the best! fantastic and can't get enough. the only disappointment is that he doesn't do more of this genre.

This song is excellent. My twin sister and I were separated for two years and the day we were reunited, this song was on the radio.

EXCELLENT Song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/1/05

I LOVE this song. I heard it once on the radio and wasn't sure of the name..By chance, I came across it on the top 10 page of my favorite radio station. I can't get enough of it!!! Marc Broussard looks young.. and he's already got a voice like that? Wow!!!!! I find that incredible... Definitely bluesy, country... Makes me wish I lived in the South! My point is, this is a GREAT song. I hope to hear more from Marc.
