I concur that this song had no intention of driving anyone to the point of an "artistic" suicide, or however his life may have ended. That's as moronic as the poeple who blamed Marilyn Manson for Columbine. I detest Manson but he never directly told those kids to go and shoot their classmates down. Obvoiusly, in BOTH cases of ETID/Manson, there was something more psychologically deeper at fault. As the last user pointed out; this student was on ADFD medication - which, correct me if I'm wrong but is known to cause emotional instabilities... Thirdly, although the song can be taken literally as a song about suicide, I think another look at the lyrics and the band's lyrical style is in place.. Keith Buckley is known for being metaphorical. The first time I heard this song/saw the lyrics, it came across more as a song of ultimate heartbreak - the feeling of suffocation when you lose the one perseon who makes every day worth getting up for - "Sign my farewell with the chimes of clock radios" IE the feeling of another dead day.. or better yet "I am your contorted angel writhing at a loss for wings" - the wings being the support of your lover... I'm not saying that this is necessarily the meaning intended by the band, but a majority of their songs take on a poetic double meaning, and that's what I pulled from this one. A doctor prescribed an ADD medicine for him, because he felt he was not concentrating in class. Instead of telling him to get some sleep, he gave him Aderal xr.
