In the midnight moonlight i'll, be walkin a long and lonely mile.
And every time I do, I keep seein this picture of you.
Here comes my baby, here she comes now,
And it can come as no surprise to me, with another guy.
Here comes my baby, here she comes now,
Walking with a love, with a love that's all so fine,
Never could be mine, no matter how I try.
You never walk alone, and you're forever talkin on the phone.
I've tried to call you names, but every time it comes out the same.
Here comes my baby, here she comes now,
And it can come as no surprise to me, with another guy.
Here comes my baby, here she comes now,
Walking with a love, with a love that's all so fine,
Never could be mine, no matter how I try.
I'm still waitin for your heart, cause I'm sure that some day it's gonna start.
You'll be mine to hold each day, but 'till then, this is all that I can say.
Here comes my baby, here she comes now,
And it can come as no surprise to me, with another guy.
Here comes my baby, here she comes now,
Walking with a love, with a love that's all so fine,
Never could be mine, no matter how I try.

Review about Here Comes My Baby Unforgetable 60's love song! | Reviewer: Paul Johansen | 11/6/09
Without any doubt at all, one of the very best love songs ever written. Loaded with nostalgia for me. Courting my now wonderful wife at the time, so identifiable with the flavour and romance of that unforgetable 60's era. Four part harmonies, great melody, a sense of values and respect for womankind long since forgotten by todays cras and souless youth! Bring 60's Rock anytime!

I absolutely adore this song. I too first heard it when I saw Rushmore, and have been in love with it ever since. It is catchy, fun, while retaining a hint of sadness- all at the same time. better than any other song, it captures both delight and misery of a love that may never come to pass. its especially poignant for me now, because i find that situation myself.
It's nice to here the songwriters version of this one, tho I do like the Tremeloes version which was the sixty's hit I remember as a grade schooler. This is another example of Pop Music Perfection, beautiful, catchy, extremely simply and yet complete. It hits home with any guy who's adored a girl that was out of his league.
I remember hearing this song as a lad on the radio and I never forgot the tune and didn't know who recorded it. It wasn't until the film Rushmore with Bill Murray that I once again heard the song and had to have it. I looked at record store to find Cat Steven's work but none of the available albums had this song on it, so I bought the soundtrack. Mr. Cat Stevens has written so many fine songs of which I have played on both the piano and guitar; however, none other than this song has been my favourite. The catchy tune and the words make this a classic of the era and is my best liked song of Cat Stevens. The lyrics tell the sad saga of a love that isn't to last or remain true. Well done Mr. Stevens.
