Hawthorne Heights was formed out of a desire to play music
that the members were passionate about, with the ultimate
goal being to become a full-time, professional band. Their
dreams are fulfilled now with the release of their Victory
Records debut, "The Silence In Black And White".
Forming in Dayton, OH in June of 2001 under the name "A Day
In The Life", the band decided to rename their previous
musical endeavor due to lineup changes and evolving musical
styles. With the final lineup in place, Hawthorne Heights
began playing out on several national self-booked tours,
sharing stages with bands like Descendents, From Autumn To
Ashes and Coheed More...

------ About the song Sugar In The Engine performed by Hawthorne Heights
Thats JT saying that stuff at the end because Casey Calvert (Hawthorne Height's screamer)died at the beginning of their tour in 2007 on November 24. Hes afraid of going on w/o Casey. that's what "Four Become One" is about too.

This, next to Ohio is for Lovers, is one of hawthorne heights' best songs. zThe lyrics really make you think, and remind me of one of my best friends.

------ About the song Decembers performed by Hawthorne Heights
This song is so pretty, it always makes me cry. And it's sooo different from all HH's other stuff. It just shows what good artists they are, they can do really screamo heavy stuff and then come up with something cute like this. They truly rock.

Well, I can't decide if I like the song or not, but I don't get why I keep playing it... it's weird, really. It's got its own appeal to it, and it didn't quite make me cry or anything, but it's a sweet song, and it's kind of a shock transition when you're listening to this band, this SONG on an ipod and then BAM! The next song comes on and it's their usual stuff.

------ About the song Decembers performed by Hawthorne Heights
Yeah. I seen all the comments. Yes this one is very similar. But first, hate'n better stop. This is a comment board. We can basicly share whatever we'd like to say. YES THIS SONG BRINGS TEARS TO MY EYES. Yet no, I did not meet my lovie in December. December reminds me of cold. Meaning a cold state of mind. How I'd be lonley before I met my lovie. This song makes me feel hallow, yet I do not understand why I play it over and over. I love Hawthorne Heights, and just a tad upset there is no "screemo" involved is some parts. But I feel this song should still be reconized. Blahblahblah. My point is great song. My other point goes to haters. This song has much feelings behind it and to the people that add personal meanings. So before you open your mouths and say something like "your all emo queers need to stop crying", they should really understand that. GOD DAMNIT ITS A EFFN COMMENT BOARD! There are actual people that take some time to read other expirences and your comment is hurtful, and a waste of space.
I have yet to be to one of there concerts, and hate that i haven't, but there coming to my town finally and I'm definitely seeing them. They've worked so hard, and when Casey died i was crying myself. It was horrible, i really hope no one else dies from the band. I love all of there song, and i hope they keep making new ones.
I love you guys<3.
This is my second fave song by them... Dead in the Water is the best. The reason their sound is so different on their newest album is cuz Casey Calvert (one of the guitarists and the screamer for the band) took a lethal mix of Vicodin, Klonopin, and Celexa. He died in his sleep on November 24, 2007. NO he wasn't a substance abuser... he had recently had a root canal and that's why he was on Vicodin. Celexa is an anti depressant and Klonopin is used for seizure disorders OR panic attacks. He took the meds before a sound check and then decided to take a nap while they were still setting up.
Saying Goodbye. | Reviewer: Kaylee Snook
------ About the song Saying Sorry performed by Hawthorne Heights
This song reminds me of what is happening with me and my boyfriend right now but the difference is...i want a different ending.
I don't want to admit that we're falling apart and better as friends because i feel like if you truly love them then Saying Goodbye is not the answer, it's alot like giving up.
I just wish he realized what i realize...that we need to fix us before we reach a point where it's not fixable at all.
Any Advice?
(i could use it).
I just started listening to HH and already they're hugely influencing me, starting with saying sorry to silver bullet, then rescue me, their singles aren't at all overrated and are very powerful. i could sing the chorus to rescue me 'til i lose my voice. also it's sad that they lost a member but they're continuing to provide us great music+lyrics and make casey proud. R.I.P. Casey Calvert, He's above us now smiling down, not so lonely as cold life is. long live hh
I think people should be more serious about music, nobody really cares if this bad "rox your sox"
But this song has a quite serious tone, and relating it to myself, I think it about a man who loves a woman but she is just out of reach forever. I think it is about suicide. That may be from my own personal experience. I had tried to kill myself in the very way they describe. Overdose. And every night in the hospital recovery unit I would cry and just pretend my boyfriend was there, even though he left me.

usually bands are just good either lyrically or muscially. HH is one of the very few who have both . they have INSANE lyrics , and amazing beats to match . this song makes me wanna cry , its so cute .

Ok I'm a guy >.>
But I fucking love this song. I fell in love with this girl during December, and even though it ended up not working out because she said she wanted to go out with me but then changed her mind *cough BITCH cough* Anyways this song is really emotional and it's not screamo or hard rock like HH usually does, it's soft and really emotional. Love this <3

------ About the song Silver Bullet performed by Hawthorne Heights
they were right when they said the song was better on accoustic, not to say it isn't good plugged in,but it just has a gentler effect, its sweeter.
is the song really about jt wanting to leave?it sounds more like a sad dude tellin his significant other that he'll always be there for her, but won't drag her down,to me......but that's probably the assumption they think you'll make anyways.
rock in peace mr. calvert

I got with my first love in December. i had knew him a while but i have social phobia, so didnt know many people. Its so true when it talks about being lonely and meeting in December. We broke up in June 2008 after 6 months together. This wasnt OUR song but its the one song that hits me hard when i hear it, it reminds me of him. I have a new boyfriend now and this song still hurts, but i cant stop listening.
This song means so mcuh to be and its so well written, with loads of emotion. I relate to the people crying, i cried first time i heard it after the break up. This song shall always have a place in my heart.

Get over yourselves.
It's a song.
And I can't believe all the "reviews" for this song are just rants about "emo".
Anyways, Ohio Is For Lovers is probably one of Hawthorne Height's best songs.
It signifies what they feel, how they are, and what they do.
The lyrics are original and easy to listen to.
And you can understand the vocalist, JT, when he sings.
And you can also understand Casey while he screams.
This is definitely a great song to listen to whenever you're feeling bored or just want to listen to something different and original.

------ About the song We Are So Last Year performed by Hawthorne Heights
Hawthorne Heights is great. Alot would consider Fragile Future a failure but I think it's good for bands to experiment with different sounds. I do like the lyrics from the first two albums better. but people stop comparing them to Panic At The Disco!. both bands are way different. Hawthorne Heights are actually good where as Panic At The Disco is just another boyband.
P.S your not emo just because you've listened to Hawthorne Heights.
H.H was and still is amazing. i hope they make a new album soon. You guys take away my breath everytime i hear your beautiful voice start to sing. you guys make my world spin :]
i love you Hawthorne Heights so much : D

------ About the song Ohio Is For Lovers performed by Hawthorne Heights
This song is just amazing. I must say, I like the acoustic version that is on the re-issue of SIB&W better, but I still loved Casey (R.I.P) and the screamo style. Secondly, I'd like to agree with everyone who is defending the difference between emo and self-harm. It's all been said, just saying that I agree. And lastly, this song has helped me and a very dear friend get through a lot of rough shit (alcoholism in our immediate families, suicide of a loved one, death of another close friend) and I want to thank Hawthorne Heights for being such a great band and writing amazing songs.
