People are really still debating the Kanye-Daft Punk originality hooplah? I am a huge Daft Punk fan and I really don't like Kanye West at all but, seriously, Kanye and Daft Punk COLLABORATED on "Stronger" and even thought I don't like it, Daft Punk loves it and I respect that. I know Daft Punk uses bits from other music. I don't have a problem with it and anyone who doesn't probably shouldn't listen to dance and electronica, etcetera.

alright before i start i have a story
-so, i was listening to this and my 24 year old sister says that "kanye's version is better, this version's just a dumb remix". i honestly almost hit her in the face.

now, my opinion:
while i heard Kanye's song first, i knew that it was not his to begin with. That's what rap does, it uses clips of other songs(i don't really like it, but, hey, it's not a big deal). He did ask for permission and he only used a clip from the middle and just repeated it, so again no big deal. i like Daft punk better, don't get me wrong, but Kanye's not really the bad guy in this; no one is. so, just let all of it be and enjoy the song.

I see a lot of people talking about the "originality" of artists. Face it, there are only so many notes in the world, only so many instruments, and only so many ways to put them all together. Originality, then, will always be a subjective concept. Realistically, if someone had been around for the past 500 years or so, they could say that all of the music they here today is unoriginal because it all has influences of classical music like Mozart and Beethoven. Judge each song on its own, and figure out whether you like the song solely based on its own merit. To do otherwise is just hypocritical.

This comment makes me lawl so fucking hard. Calling Kanye unoriginal for making a cover of a song, while most of Daft Punk's beats are sampled from other songs, albeit normally altered heavily from the original. Now, I love Daft Punk, but you should really know your shit before talking.

I really like Kanye West but he just wreaked such a good song. Also the backing tune to Kanye Wests 'stronger' is slower and lower so it doesn't sound as good as the original. Overall I prefer Daft punks song but Kanye wests one is ok.

While an avid of hiphop, from Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five, to Dr. Dre, E-40, Outkast (the early stuff....not radio friendly stuff) I can honestly say...to quote NAS...HIP HOP IS DEAD. Just as a great empire will fall as it spends too much money and fights to many battles, hip hop has become its own worst enemy. Kanye West, while he may be clever, and does write decent lyrics, gone are the days where a creative 19 y/o with talent will actually be given the opportunity to record an original track, with ORIGINAL MUSIC---not sampeled, and his/her own lyrics, and we will forever be peddled this mediocre tripe as if it were worthy to be mentioned in the same sentance as groups like Earth, Wind and Fire, who have been sampled more times than I can count, our yes...and I will be blasted for this....Black Sabbath (seems fair Ozzy and his friends wrote quite a bit of music that hip hop artists respect...they have only used their entire first and second albums in repeatedly in the last 10 years... But, maybe I'll be proven wrong in my cynicism...and there is creativity left in hip hop today....but...I won't hold my breath.

i dont like kanye very much, but guess what, whoever you are. i DO have good taste in music and i WILL NOT go suck eggs. sorry to disappoint. sheesh. i think that the daft punk version is so much better. sure, kanye did an ok cover, but it shows that he isnt as creative as he would have to be to write his own songs 100 percent. and yes, i know that people are influenced by other peoples songs, but he even changed daft punks original lyrics some, so it made it seem like it was his song in the first place. that doesnt scream originality.
