Lyrics by Scott Innes and Claude Parish, Music by Nelson Blanchard.
The wait turned into hours
Before you came my way
The smile that filled a daddy's heart
On the special day
The moment left me speechless
I didn't know what to say
Then you took your first breath
That took mine away
Days go by so quickly
Summer turns to fall
Seems like only yesterday
That you began to crawl
So don't be afraid to take that step
I'll catch you when you fall
I don't mind if you leave behind
A few handprints on the wall
I can't describe this feeling
Way down deep inside
The itsy-bitsy spider
Was the first thing that we tried
Patty cake, the baker's man
With your hands so very small
You could always stay this young
And I wouldn't mind at all
Days go by so quickly
Summer turns to fall
Seems like only yesterday
That you began to crawl
So don't be afraid to take that step
I'll catch you when you fall
I don't mind if you leave behind
A few handprints on the wall

Review about Handprints On The Wall My song for my kids | Reviewer: Claude Parish | 12/8/2007
I wrote this song with my pal, Scott Innes. Nelson Blanchard did the music. I had no idea when we wrote this song that Kenny would actually release it. We were met with opposition from the 'suits' on this one. Kenny wanted to record it and that was that. His twins came along well after 'Handprints' was written. I'm glad that so many people enjoyed it. The only other work we did before going to other ventures was 10 or so 'Scooby-Doo' songs that are only available on the DVD's. Thanks for the positive response. And I don't mind if you leave behind a few handprints on the web.....

This is a sweet song for any young parent, written as coming from a father. When I first bought the CD it was on, I wasn't quite sure what was coming. It has now be sent to all of the young families in our clan, and they all love it. Just a bit of a switch from the usual love songs, and most delightful. Kenny. did you record this before or after the twins rearranged your life for you? Great song!!!
