Gypsy Lyrics - Fleetwood Mac

Review The Song (6)

So I'm back, to the velvet underground
Back to the floor, that I love
To a room with some lace and paper flowers
Back to the gypsy that I was
To the gypsy... that I was

And it all comes down to you
Well, you know that it does
And lightning strikes, maybe once, maybe twice
oh, and it lights up the night
And you see your gypsy
You see your gypsy

To the gypsy that remains faces freedom with a little fear
I have no fear, I have only love
And if I was a child
And the child was enough
Enough for me to love
Enough to love

She is dancing away from you now
She was just a wish
She was just a wish
And a memory is all that is left for you now
You see your gypsy
You see your gypsy

Lightning strikes, maybe once, maybe twice
And it all comes down to you
"
And it all comes down to you

Lightning strikes, maybe once, maybe twice
And it all comes down to you

I still see your bright eyes, bright eyes
I have always loved you
And it all comes down to you

(instrumental solo)
(fades out)

the origins/meanings of this song | Reviewer: gypsy jewels1965 | 7/25/11

Stevie wrote and sang this song in regards and memory of a close friend who died of cancer and Stevie is the gypsy that still remains, from this girl friendship that died with her friend. Beautiful song and tribute....

Meaning of Gypsy | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/20/11

Of course Stevie always considered herself one with the occult and I guess a 'gypsy' in that way, but from a personal perspective I think that it means she was never one to settle - geographically or emotionally, hence the lightning striking, "Maybe once, maybe twice" is talking about her settling down into a relationship and a home only a few times and this time after her heart was broken the gypsy moves on, not as easily as before..."the gypsy that remains faces freedom with a little fear."
I've lived this song.

This is a amazing song! But my friends and i were having a huge debate over what the lyrics to this song acutally mean. We were trying to decide if gypsy is a metophor from something much deeper.

any ideas?

This is a beautiful song. I play it on accoustic guitar and the chords are so beautiful. The lyrics are meaningful and nostalgic.
I love it!
