Guess I Just Lost My Head Lyrics - Carpenters
Review The Song (1)
I really don't mean to stare
I was only trying to memorize you there
You know I meant no harm
It's just that the starlight in your eye
Gave me a chill, nearly made me cry
I'm sure it's very clear
(*) I don't know what's goin' down
You're gonna ruin this poor girl from out of town
I like the way you move so much that
(**) I guess I just lost my head
I know we should really know much better
I guess I just lost my head
I know we don't really know each other
So pardon the things I said
Won't you tell me you'll forgive me
I don't mean to intrude
It's just that I don't want to break this mood
(Don't want to break this mood here tonight)
And if I hold your hand it's just 'cause
There's something in the things you say
That wraps me up and really puts me away
But everybody knows
Repeat (*)
Repeat (**)
Repeat (*)
I guess I just lost my head
I know we should really know much better
I guess I just lost my head
(I've got the feeling inside)
I know we don't really know each other
(And I love you)
So pardon the things I said
(I need your loving tonight)
Won't you tell me you'll forgive me
Guess I lost it
Guess I lost it
I guess I just lost my head
(Cause you've been making me crazy)
I know we should really know much better
I guess I just lost my head
I know we don't really know each other
So pardon the things I said
Won't you tell me you'll forgive me
I was only trying to memorize you there

Outstanidng smooth jazz tune | Reviewer: Rick Henry | 1/8/2008
Karen Carpenter's solo album was just as good as anything she did with Carpenters. Most of the song's arrangements were done by the talented jazz musician Bob James and Rod Temperton (from the funk band Heatwave). Her solo album was primarily smooth jazz with hints of funk rhythms in the background.
In "Guess I Just Lost My Head" Karen gives a stellar vocal performance which focuses on being upbeat and somewhat playful. Karen was moving into a new musical direction which proved to be quite successful for her.
