It's a song about realizing that the world is not just one way or another, in other words black and white, and coming to accept it. She does call on God for help, but there is more to the song than just that. She feels her vision is clouded and finds herself confused. The lyrics show how she is recognizing sin in her life, realizing that she needs to change her way of thinking and repenting before the Lord, asking Him to renew her mind through the Holy Ghost. If you notice the way the song flows, you'll see that she says " I've buried my convictions". No way she is saying that this is a good thing. Later she talks about being numb and blind and needing God's fire. Her numbness is a direct affect of her lukewarmness.
