Yet he is unwilling to leave her, and puts up with everything she does to hurt him - Yeah I ain't messing with another life. He is still in love with her, but isn't sure what to do.

The lyrics in the song are beautiful. I've never felt something close to love, although I pretended I did, and pretending can't fill in the fact that it was really just a fast, young relationship that had the potential for love, but never came in sight of reaching it. So now I'm wishing that one day something as powerful as the meaning of this song will come along and when it does, that I'll be smart enough to realize it and hold on tight

This song reminds me of My wife and soulmate who I lost to Cancer earlier this year. She loved alternative music and loved the goo goo dolls.. I miss her terribly and would give everything up to Touch her one more time like the song says,to hear her voice and kiss her lips... I am heartbroken and sad... This song is awesome

This song describes the way I feel about one of my best friends. We've known each other for years and sadly the feelings haven't been so mutual. I've been in love with her since we were kids, and I would still do anything (now in our mid and late 20's) to be with her. I would literally give up the rest of my life just to spend one day with her. I know that sounds ridiculous (it does to me, too), but I absolutely love this girl more than I am capable of putting into words.

I think the song is about the desperate want to want to work things out but the lies of pretending there's no real feelings trying to keep the other happy (obviously for the girl's sake) . I don't think they were "officially" together. Simply because "it's all and then it's nothing to Me". There's an implied history between them. Possibly they were together at one point broken up and now maybe they wants to try but she got recked emotionally from other relationships.

Regardless Goo Goo Dolls are my favorite band in the entire world they are amazing <3

about one year ago, i was in an online chatroom. the first person i met became my best friend...we talked for months and i never even thought to ask her for her e-mail address. right after we went back to school she never came back on...about three months later, one of her friends came on and i was just about to get the girls e-mail from her friend, when my internet went out at that exact moment. i guess the universe didnt want me to tell her how i felt... now when i hear this song, it reminds me of what i lost, and still hope to find. now, its more of a race against the clock to talk to her again before 1 year passes. if it does, i'll know that she's forgotten me and i'll give up... thank you for this song...

honestly, ive known this song for a while.. just never really looked into the name or the exact lyrics, just always heard it on the radio and loved the deep lyrics and whatnot. but um, today i heard the line "bleed just to know you're alive" and its what made me look these up. hit close to home, i dont cut or anything -.- but sometimes it feels like the only feeling i really hv is the feeling of pain.
