Review about Giving Up, Giving In Meaning of the song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/25/09 Originally, Tomas wrote this on Catch-22's Keasbey Nights album, when he was in high school. That's the key here. This song is about a boy, probably Tomas singing about himself, following a girl he likes around, being "the friend." He gets sick of the BS he puts up with, as she is obviously shallow and narcissistic. Tomas starts off by listing his real problems ("I got no cash, got no girl...") but pointing out how he can worth through his issues, and sees his opportunities ("got the world in the palm of my hand.") It's about a teenage kid in high school rejecting the norms and the BS drama that accompanies high school. We've all been there, we all understand it.
