The 1970s was a decade dominated by glam, punk, heavy
metal, new wave, disco and funk. It was a decade where
notions of pop and rock authenticity and hipness were
constantly being contested and redefined. In the midst of
such a heady maelstrom, a handful of artists such as Gino
Vannelli and Steely Dan opted to buck all the trends,
writing and producing sophisticated jazz-inflected pop. In
Vannelli's case, such decade defining hits as "People Gotta
Move" and "I Just Wanna Stop" came wrapped in elaborate
arrangements dominated by multiple synthesizers while being
totally bereft of guitars. While Vannelli wasn't a
favourite with the Rolling Stone wing of rock critics, he

------ About artist/band Gino Vannelli
I have been listening to Gino Vannelli since the 70s, back when I was learning to be a singer myself.
Even back then I was struck with how great Gino sang, and I marvelled at his range, pitch, and the way he captured me with his voice. Gino may tell you his singing has improved over the years, but I can tell you he has always been a brilliant singer.
Each time I go back to listen to some of his new music I am amazed at his songs, Gino has always been ahead of his time in my book, and the Brother To Brother album blew my mind, and left me changed, much like how Gino felt about classical music the first time he heard it.
I am also amazed at how many people I meet that have never heard of Gino Vannelli, I am convinced Gino could be a bigger star than he already is, but as they say down here in New Zealand, "Good things take time you know"
All the best Gino, you are truly great!

------ About artist/band Gino Vannelli
There is no one like Gino Vanelli. His vocals are smooth, pure, expressive, emotional, rich, resonant, and no less than phenomenal. His range is huge and he fluidly moves from chest, to middle, to head voice as if he has one voice, and without any transition problems. Anyone these days could learn so much just from listening and trying to do what he does effortlessly. He is all art. He has seamless technique and you don't quite notice the quality and the pyrotechnical level performance until you try to sing one of his songs and fail to even emulate his vocal prowess. His songs are timeless and have full rich chords and unique melodic lines, all of which are the essence of this great artist, Gino Vanelli.

------ About the song Lost and Found performed by Gino Vannelli
Gino Vannelli is a creative genius. His musical arrangements set the bar really high when it comes to quality, taste, uniqueness and I cannot offer enough kudos for and to him. Today's young artists on the charts could get a whole musical education by listening to anything from his rich catalogue of material. He knows how to write. He knows what a world-class production sounds like. I wish we would see more of him because he truly is an artist to paralell the likes of Prince or any other true original gem that our pop culture has seen.
