Who has been the biggest influence in your life?
It's hard to say--My Mom has been a great influence, as has my Grandfather, who has been a pastor for many years. I think many people have influenced me--certain teachers, authors, Biblical characters, family friends--in some way.
How would you describe your personality?
I am somewhat of an introvert. I love one-on-one time with people, so that I can really get acquainted with them, and I nearly hate large parties where the ultimate goal is to see how many people you know in the room. I'm a goofball around those I know well, and pretty soft-spoken and quiet around those I don't. I like to be calm and laid-back, though I seem to thrive on too much to do.
What inspires you to write songs?
Life experiences, Scripture verses, other people's stories. I always want to write about the things I can't articulate in regular conversation, either because of my inability to communicate or because others don't seem to understand my point of view. Writing songs is a great method of bold, authentic, expression that people will listen and relate to better than regular conversation.
What's your favorite bible verse and why?
Got lots. This week, maybe it's Proverbs 3:5: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Hime, and He will make your path straight." It is a great verse of promise and encouragement, especially when there is much to think about and the temptation to worry.
Another verse that I love is Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "Plans for welfare and not for calamity, to give you a future and a hope." And there are more....
Ginny's FYI
Blind people can hear, so you don't have to raise your voice when speaking with them.
Blind people can walk, so if giving assistance, just lend an arm, not your whole body.
Blind people are all different, so what applies to one may not apply to another. I, personally, don't ever mind if people want to ask questions, and I don't think most other visually impaired people mind either. It is better to know than to be confused.
Blind people can do laundry, cook food, clean house, iron clothes, put on makeup, climb trees, have babies, and almost everything else except driving.

Just right on time! | Reviewer: Alain | 7/20/09
Ginny Owens sang the closing song in Northpoint Community church yesterday. She sang, "If You Want Me To". I've known the Lord and lately I've been biting the lie and it's slowly fading my fellowship with God. The preaching and her song diminished my worries in life. I choked up and got very teary eyed. Her life is God's testimony of goodness and full of grace. I can't wait to see her sing again. Praise the Lord!

Your songs, especially the one above, have been inspirational. How can someone request permission to quote your song in a non-profit booklet?
Such love for our Lord Jesus Christ! | Reviewer: Mark Cooney | 1/9/06
Ginny gives such a great example about how fearfully and wonderfully made we truly are (Psalm 139)! She has such a gorgeous voice and when I listen to her praise God's name and sing about her true love the Lord Jesus, I get encouraged greatly at how she uses her talents, and uses her amazing gorgeous voice to praise Jesus! Her life is a great example of how no matter who we are, what we look like... No matter how HE made us, we are so special and are made just the way we are for no other reason than to praise His name! In Jesus we are truly Free! "Free to love, free to give, free to smile.." (Ginny)...
Praise God for her life and her great testimony!
Motivating, Pure, and Inspiring | Reviewer: Mikey | 10/31/04
I was introduced to Ginny Owens sophomore year of college. I have learned her ever since I first heard, "If You Want Me To." That instantly became one of my favorite songs. I continued to learn about Ginny Owens and her story and was so inspired. I did an oral report about her life and her music my sophomore year in college. She is a true talent. Her voice is so genuine and pure. Her lyrics inspire me and encourage me to stay strong with the Lord. She also inspires to be a better person. She is truly an inspirational individual. I would recommend her music to anyone!
