Gin Blossoms Lyrics

Some two million people have plunked down their hard-earned
$15 for a copy of New Miserable Experience, the Gin
Blossoms' major-label debut. Probably ninety percent of
them had never heard of the band before the video for "Hey
Jealousy" became MTV buzz bin material in the summer of
1993. But these Blossoms are no one-hit wonders. They're
slow bloomers, and their story actually starts more than a
decade before the release of NME, in their hometown of
Tempe, Arizona.

------ About the song Til I Hear It From You performed by Gin Blossoms

I wasn't a little kid when I first heard this song, or have memories about a first love to associate it with. When I first heard this, I was already an old man of 43, had crashed and burned through 3 long-term relationships of over 7 years each (not counting the *ONE* I let slip through my fingers), had a good girlfriend pass away, and was drinking my way back to mental health. I mean, I was drinking to keep the demons at bay. She was a Russian doctor, stark, passionate, and just beautiful. She helped me return from the abyss, and brought me back to the land of the living. Around the time she left me, I heard this song for the first time. It just perfectly captured my emotional state, and brought me back to a healthful place. I've since married with a beautiful baby girl and good wife, but every time I heard this, I get transported back to that bittersweet time when I was brought back to health and strength, only to be dropped again...and got back up.

------ About the song Til I Hear It From You performed by Gin Blossoms

This song was always playing when I first fell in love and every time I hear it it takes me back to those innocent days, days when I got butterflies in my stomach just by one glance at him, days that I couldn't wait for school to be out so I could see him. Days that I miss and probably will never relive. Things have change but I still have my memories.

This Song is Hamlet's Famous Question | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Lost Horizons performed by Gin Blossoms

Read the lyrics carefully, and listen. Underneath the timeless guitar-pop veneer are general feelings of despair, absurdity, pointlessness, and utter loathing for most people around. A careful read of the lyrics shows that the promise of a new day, with a buzz at the end of it, has helped the author defeat a suicidal impulse one more time (and that's really what "to be or not to be" is). If you ever find yourself in such a place, this song will speak to you.

This song also serves to illustrate Thoreau's famous quote about living a life of quiet desparation. The song's author, at least, is aware of this desparation, and shares it, as a means of showing his discontent with it. I have been in a similar place, but my crutch is ganja. There have been days of, "if I smoke enough today, I will at least make it to bed, and likely see tomorrow, when I will again have the self-debate to start the day." It is that debate where this song lives. With no hope, the author must "drink enough of anything."

Most of the rock demographic is probably not familiar with the story of Pagliacci, unless, of course, the Motown hit, "Tears of a Clown" has been committed to memory. The cheery, pop-rock sound serves as a similar kind of clown paint here.

This song may not have achieved as much international reknown as some of its' mates on the NME album, but it is perhaps the quintessential Doug Hopkins (R.I.P.)-era song. It actually offers insights into why he eventually took his own life.

Takes Me Back in Time | Reviewer: Rob
------ About the song Hey Jealousy performed by Gin Blossoms

wOw! This song really takes me back to a time when everything was new and exciting. I think I was 21 at the time, the whole world ahead of me, at least it seemed that way at the time. I seen Gin Blossoms with Cracker and Spin Doctors at Starwood Amphitheatre in Nashville, TN that year. It was a great show. Every time I hear this song it takes me back. The wierd part is that I really wasn't even into this kind of music at the time. I was a long haired, hard-core Metallica fan back then. Thank you Gin Blossoms for some great music to go along with the yellowing pages of my mental scrapbook! Life didn't exactly turn out to be all I expected it to be "back in the day". But at leats I have ome great memmoeories to drift back to when the present time becomes too much!

This song makes me sense melancholy and sorrow. I love Gin Blossoms, and this song is amazing how it connects with me and my more pensive and serious side. Thanks Robin and Jesse. Tempe AZ music is amazing. Also see the Refreshments and Peacemakers.

I was a little kid in the 90's, and I always remember hearing this song would come on the radio while riding around in our huge Ford conversion van! Having this song, along with other 90's songs, brings back so many fond memories of being a little kid again. I love the 90's!

------ About the song AS LONG AS IT MATTERS performed by Gin Blossoms

'love the lyrics...the melody's fine..although, i'm not really into this genre but it sounded just good...not like what other bands call as music which really is not music to me at all..just noise, mere noise...this song goes as smoothly as it is..the instrumental background never hovered over the vocals which is really fine.
