Georgia on My Mind Lyrics - Ray Charles

Review The Song (10)

Georgia, Georgia
The whole day through (the whole day through)
Just an old sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind (Georgia on my mind)
I said a Georgia, Georgia
A song of you (a song of you)
Comes as sweet and clear as moonlight through the pines
Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still in the peaceful dreams I see
The road leads back to you
I said Georgia, oh Georgia, no peace I find (no peace i find)
Just an old sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind (Georgia on my mind ohh)
Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still in peaceful dreams I see
The road leads back to you
Oh Georgia,
No peace, no peace I find
Just an old, sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind (Georgia on my mind)
Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still in peaceful dreams I see
The road leads back to you
Oh Georgia, Georgia
No peace, no peace I find
Just an old sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind (Georgia on my mind)
I said just an old sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind

Great 60's tune | Reviewer: Jonny Cromer | 5/3/13

This song has always been pleasing to my ears. As I prepare to do some
songs for the veterans alumni dinner in Dallas and it being a 60's theme celebration Georgia made the list in a 5-6 min medolee of 60's tunes. I think I'll just put it at the top of my list

Hoagy on My Mind | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/21/12

I agree that Ray Charles did this song proud. However, it was a white man (Hoagy Carmichael) that wrote the music and another (Stuart Gorrell) who wrote the lyrics in 1930. It's interesting to me that this song is always referred to as Ray Charles' masterpiece and held up as a "black" piece of music.
Why isn't simply referred to as a great piece rather than a particular race's? Isn't it time to stop categorizing things by skin color?

Of course Ray nailed it.It was a studio. Why do you think musicians pay exorbitant sums to buy old equipment. Not to mention,he was top of the line. They play him all the time up in the hillbilly sections of Arkansas, but he gets no time in the city.It is sad when white people have to save black country music, because the young blacks should be embracing their culture.Black and Native American, also certain Whiteys, created country. If you ain't Country you ain't Possum Squauler.Git with it.This is a good sound.

with pale folk.

Music that Knows no Boundaries | Reviewer: Pedro Callou | 2/12/10

This used to be my parents' song. Once when I was about 10, I came home to find my mom and dad dancing romantically to it in the living-room of our new house. I stood there watching them and wondering how much in love they were. We're Brazilians, so they did not understand the lyrics, but I'm sure they felt every word in them deep in their hearts. Now at 56, I'd give anything in the world to see that sight again. I've cherished this song all my life, and will always miss my parents. Thank you, Ray.

Im 15 and I love this song. Its good to get away from the hardcore things our generation plays and get back to the jazzy sounds that Ray Charles created. Its beautiful.
