It's da best song ever!

I don't think the song refers to any one battle but to the Irish military tradition. Irish brigades or units have fought in the armys of Spain, France, Italy, Germany , Holland, Austria, Russia, Japan Australia New Zealand England Scotland Mexico Canada USA Argentina Brazil, Peru Ecuador because they were forced out of their own countries. The navy's of the USA and Argentina were founded by Irish men John Barry USA and William brown Argentina. And the great English general Wellington was Irish. I think the song is a tribute to the Irish and there desire to go home.

I love country music and have since I was a child. I lost my son on March 22, 2013. He was only 29. He loved music. All kinds of music including country. When I hear this song on the radio it makes me smile and cry for although the pain of losing him is sometimes hard to bare I wouldn't have wanted to miss a moment of the time I had with him. He was a wonderful man and I will miss him until the day I die but he is forever in my heart. I love you Randall.

This song is the best, I cry always when i listen to this song, I prayed to be with this guy, we loved each other but thru some certain reason he didnt love the Lord as he should, and i wondered what is the proble, because if he does we will just be together :-(

it didnt happen, I prayed my eyes off but my prayers were onvoice mail i guess, it just didnt work out!! i had hope that maybe God can change him for me. iam heart broken, and wondering of i can ever meet a guy that i would love like him or i will just compromise for the same of not single!! still wondering untill i get one maybe i can come back and comment that what God gives is the best!! so far iam not sure!! :-((( saaaaaaddddd

Yeah I agree he could of been any age up to 19, and ok she had "hands of leather" but shed been doing all the work mostly by herself, so one or two years working the farm through good/bad weather would of done this to any woman of any age. So she could of been 20/30 yrs of age. Id like to think so, makes it kinda sweet! love the song and the singer.
