Gangsta's Paradise Lyrics - Coolio

Review The Song (41)

(Spoken)
You want to tell me what this is all about?

As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I take a look at my life and realize there's notin left
Cause I've been blastin' and laughin so long that
Even my ma'ma thinks that my mind is gone
But I ain't never crossed a man that didn't deserve it
Me, be treated like a punk, you know that's unheard of
You better watch how you talkin, and where you walkin
Or you and your homies might be lined in chalk
I really hate to trip, but I gotta lob -
As they croak I see myself in the pistol smoke, fool
I'm the kinda G the little homies wanna be like
On my knees in the night
Sayin' prayers in the street light

They got the situation, they got me facin'
I can't live a normal life, I was raised by the strip
So I gotta be down with the hood team
Too much television watchin' got me chasin' dreams
I'm an educated fool with money on my mind
Got my ten in my hand and a gleam in my eye
I'm a loc'ed out gangsta, set-trippin banger
And my homies is down, so don't arouse my anger, fool
Death ain't nuthin but a heart beat away
I'm livin life do-or-die-a, what can I say?
I'm twenty-three now, but will I live to see twenty-fow'?
The way things are goin' I don't know

Tell me why are we, so blind to see
That the ones we hurt, are you and me

Power and the money, money and the power
Minute after minute, hour after hour
Everybody's runnin, but half of them ain't lookin
What's goin on in the kitchen, but I dont know what's cookin
They say I got ta learn, but nobody's here to teach me,
If they cant understand it, how can they reach me?
I guess they can't; I guess they won't
I guess they front; that's why I know my life is outta luck, fool!

Anthologik song! Think I'll always love it as the original one. For those who want to know, the sample comes from "Pastime Paradise" of Steve Wonder.

Peace out guyz!

This Is...*insert epic fruit here* | Reviewer: SuperDude | 12/2/13

Awesome! You think I'd say that? Well...I'd say this is just a great example of gangstas who are rapping while getting ready to rob some emeralds...I wouldn't know just by the song. But that doesn't matter to me. I remember this now. I remember it being a no. 1 in the UK in the mid '90s. Only reason I know is because I'm from the UK and I've even seen the CD where it even MENTIONED IT! Lol I'm not mad, just saying.

coolest rap song compilation in the entire free world!!! | Reviewer: spiny gabor | 6/15/13

Don't usually listen to rap, r&b, soul, funk, jazz & rhythm sektor... but, this song has an intrinsic, collective beat that transcends what i usually listen to such as black metal, industrial, pop, punk and gothic such as hole, Marilyn Manson, placebo, Impaled Nazarene, sisters of mercy, Christian death, poe, venom, Britney spears, etc... it was on npr this morning on the way back from the methadone clinic & pharmacy. Btw, i have a little heart left in my rotten pile of dry bones... this song bro

True Song | Reviewer: Annonmonous | 5/14/13

This sng is awesome. It's Coolio telling that the youth are getting left behind and no me is trying to help them. No me will try anymore. That's his life. That is how he was raised. This stuff happens all around us and no one will stop and help.

Beat? | Reviewer: hay-Dan (young rapper) | 7/20/12

What is the beat like throughout the piece because I don't actually have the song and just wanted to learn it because the school talent show is coming up and recently my friends have told me how good "gangsta's paridise" is!

cool coolio | Reviewer: tolugermann | 6/17/12

cool coolio from his cool oldskool, whenever i listen to this i often wish tupac and easy e were alive to hear it once again...i miss tupac wenever i hear dis....this is just too sarcastic and poetic that the wicked nature of human is being embelishly expounded ..if u want to cry ...listen to the song while reading this...then the one and only message conveyed is ''the ones hurt are u and me''....thug angels descend whenever ''Ganstas paradise'' is being played....where ever coolio is i want him to give his life to christ then he will absolutely reignite his Talent. ein tolles Lied von Zeit zu Zeit.... tolugermann

Pure reflection of real life happenings! The vocals in chorus thrills me a whole lot! Kc4shot from Naija(Nigeria), Coolio na you biko!

seriousness | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/21/12

Its not an abusive country that make this happen and it might be hatred of colored people but people might feel hatred because they are e killing each other.if MLK or other civil-rights. activist were here they would be ashamed by the gang bangers.
