Moving like a hot-rod hooptie down a spooky back street,
Gang Starr's fifth aIbum, Moment
Of Truth, is a musical-terrorist manifesto to hip-hop
listeners whose revved up feelings of joy and hope have
started settling into symptoms of pre-millennium tension.
The 18-song set is Gang Starr's maiden voyage on Noo Trybe
Records, and with its evolved rhyme schemes and extended
textural depth, it's the group's most assured work to date.
Since debuting in 1986, Gang Starr has consistently ranked
among hip hop's most respected, and Moment Of Truth
confirms beyond a reasonable doubt that its mastery only
increases over time. "It’s all about evolution, revolution
and rehabilitation," offers GURU, the crew's frosty-voiced
frontman who says he became an even better MC toda More...

------ About the song Moment of Truth performed by Gang Starr
This very song saved my life. Seriously, I had been deeply depressed for quite a time and then one day I was playing this track when driving to work. Suddenly the realness behind the lyrics just hit me and I had to pull over cause I started to cry. I realised that no matter how unfairly life seemed to treat me I could make it. I don't care how many records they sell. I bought "Moment of Truth" when it came out and it changed my life. My biggest respect to these guys for keeping it real.
This is probably my favourite rap song ever. And probably one of my favourite songs in general. If you know Gang Starr, you know they are one of the best rap groups ever. And, in my view, if they put out just this song, if they were a one hit wonder, everyone rap fan would still remember them! I have shown this song to my parents, siblings, and friends mostly all of which dont like rap or hip-hop musicm and they felll in love with this song! They are HUGE fans of Gang Starr now, and thats probably the only rap group theyre ever going to like.
I want to thank both members of Gang Starr for being so great.

------ About the song Just to Get a Rep performed by Gang Starr
Gangstarr is quintessential Hip-Hop... The kind of which will be studied as an artform music much in the way that Jazz is today... "Just To Get A Rep" is an example of two avant-garde masters at work... Preem and his intense sonic replica of the NYC landscape and Guru's hypnotic monotone diatribe, bring light and sheer enjoyment to the often cold realities of metropolitan life and the variables in which poverty devours the young... Poignant, Powerful, and Pulsating!

Any fans of rap definitly need to listen to this one. Lyrics are dead on and rythm is catchy in an old school way. A song of true hiphop more or less. 9/10
