Retrospect: Back to the year of 1988. The message causes a
sensation: guitarist Kai Hansen leaves Helloween, the
quintett he co-founded, which managed to move 250.000 units
of KEEPER OF THE SEVEN KEYS (Part. II) and reach goldstatus
in Germany. Still all the world´s gold could not
repress Hansen´s desire to realize his personal
vision of modern, melodic Heavy Metal under the name of
Gamma Ray (which was the songtitle of an old German band
called Birth Control).
As a consequence the first few albums HEADING FOR TOMORROW
(1989), SIGH NO MORE (1991) and INSANITY & GENIUS (1993) ,
featuring the vocals of Ralf Scheepers (now with Primal
Fear), had more of an experimental character, marking the
obligatory quest for an unique style, that differed from
Hans More...

I have this, some Dream Theater, some Maiden (Rime of the Ancient Mariner) and symphony X in a playlist... less than ten songs, which can occupy me for the whole of my three hour journey home each month!
This song is power metal at it's best, and possibly belongs in the league of best songs ever written. Very impressive instrumental work (especially the guitar solos), and a very catchy chorus. The progressive element only adds to the awesomeness.

What music should be like. Moving, atmospheric, stratospheric, spiritual, classic, soft, heavy, powerful, invocative. Like the reviewer before said, "the greatest unheard song of our time". Get the CD by the same name. This band wrote a few more of this quality over the years.
It's not the best metal song ever made because it's impossible to make an estrict order. When I have to wait a long period of time, like fifteen or thirty minutes, and i haven't anything to do, I put it on my mp3 and time flows differently.
This is one of the greatest unheard songs of our time..It has everything a prog or power metal fan could ask for. Just when you think the song is over it shifts gears and goes off in another direction...Just buy it
