Frontline Lyrics - Pillar

Review The Song (50)

It's not like I'm walking alone into the valley of the shadow of death
Stand beside one another, 'cause it ain't over yet
I'd be willing to bet that if we don't back down
You and I will be the ones that are holding the Crown in the end
When it's over, we can say, "Well done"
But not yet, 'cause it's only just begun
So, pick up, and follow me, we're the only ones
To fight this thing, until we've won
We drive on and don't look back
It doesn't mean we can't learn from our past
All the things that we mighta done wrong
We could've been doing this all along

Everybody, with your fists raised high
Let me hear your battle cry tonight
Stand beside, or step aside
We're on the frontline x2

And we'll be carrying on, until the day it doesn't matter anymore
Step aside, you forgot what this is for
We fight to live, we live to fight
And tonight, you'll hear my battle cry
We live our lives on the frontlines
We're not afraid of the fast times
These days have opened up my eyes
And now, I see where the threat lies

Everybody, with your fists raised high
Let me hear your battle cry tonight
Stand beside, or step aside
We're on the frontline x2

We've got to lead the way!

We've got to lead the way!

Everybody with your fists raised high
Let me hear your battle cry tonight
Stand beside, or step aside
We're on the frontline x2

Everybody with your fists raised high
stand aside onto the frontline

Everybody with your fists raised high
Let me hear your battle cry

Everybody with your fists raised high
Let me hear your battle cry tonight
Stand beside, or step aside
We're on the frontline

Everybody with your fists raised high
Let me hear your battle cry

Thank You For Your Service, Rob And Everyone Else | Reviewer: Adam Rock | 6/12/14

Taken directly from their bio:
"Beckley, whose father is currently stationed in the Middle East through 2005, even tackles warfare in the militant "Frontline." A former army man himself, Beckley actually started Pillar not long after finishing his own term of service."

Also, I'd like to thank everyone else who has served in the military as you know what its like to be on the "Frontlines."
However, given that this is a Christian band, I find it hard for anyone to understand that Rob Beckley is not talking about Spiritual warfare. Honestly, it couldn't be any clearer.

I know people say this is a Christian Sog because of the first line but the Marines have a saying, "Though I walk through te shadow of the alley of death I hall fear no evil because I am the baddest motherfucker in the god damn valley." that's what I first though of when I heard this song. Before I knew this was a Christian band I actualy thought this song was written for the Corps. "We've got to lead the way" The Marines pride themselves on being the first to go into battle. "We live our lives on te frontline. We're not afraid of the fast times" In the invasion of Iraq there were Marine units who would speed through towns with little armor and lots of guns. If people shot back then the military knew it was a hostile town. Marines are ALWAYS on the frontlines. "Pick up and follow me were the only ones to fight this thing until its done." Marines are few and proud and never quit. I'm Roman Catholic and I still don't really see the Christian imagery and I don't really agree with everyone saying we are In a holy war. The only ones in a holy war is the enemy, Islamic fanatics who embrace death.

Hello everyone,
This song is a bit to short for most people and can't stand the low amount of rap. Some people however; prefer this song as a school event. I am just letting you all know. :)

The Thin Blue Line | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/25/10

I'm gonna have to agree with alot of people when it comes to this song. I think there is many different interpretations on the meaning of this song. I guess it just all depends on how you see it. For me personally, I would have to say its a song about the men and women who stand on the 'Thin Blue Line'. That's anybody in the fields of Law Enforcement, Corrections, Fire and Emergency Services and of course the US Military. I've been a Firefighter for the last 11 years, and I have to say that song just does it for me and I know it does for alot of my brother Firefighters. Its a scary world out there and it needs people to stand on that line and push the evil back.

I think that just about every one of the theories stated could be right in it's own way depending on where you stand in life at that moment. This could also a very good therapy song, you tell some one what you think is going on in this song right after listening to it. (no research done) And based off that you can figure out what you're searching for at that moment in life, and the view could always change. I have yet to figure out what I personally think of this song.

I don't know about every one but in my opinion i think this song is pretty deep. If u listen to the way they sing this song it has soo much meaning. it is my favorit song i could listen to it forever... you guys may think they are stupid cause they are christians butthey dont sing about god. they sing about their feeling to the lyrics that they do sing. so next time you listen to this song, listen to the way they sing it.

U.S Marine Corps | Reviewer: Marine00492 | 8/7/10

When I hear this song it reminds me of Afghanistan. I was there and this song says Marines all over it. We live in the frontlines and we fight until we have won! We are not afraid of the fast times! We have got to lead the way!!! SEMPER FI MARINES!

Clarification | Reviewer: Solider for God and Country | 8/5/10

Ok, so, for those of you who say "just because this band consists of Christians doesn't mean this song is Christian I am just going to go through this song and clear a few things up. First I would like to just say this song is completely awesome and motivational, and as my name states I am both a soldier in the military and a soldier in God's army. Having said that, let the clarification begin.

The first line is saying he's not alone because he not only has God but other Christians as well walking with him.
They are standing by one another because we may have won a few battles in this war against the mainstream world and sin but the war is still raging.
If we don't back down and we stay and fight the good fight and run the race and finish the course then in the end God will give us "rewards"(crowns) in the end according to how hard we worked and fought.
In the end Christ say's "well done my good and faithful servants" so they cause say that but not yet because we are still waging war against the enemy, who we fight with love. They don't know how to react to that.
Pick up. Christ commands us to pick up His cross and follow Him, for we are the ones He has chose to fight until He comes back and we've won the was. We will, by the way, win this war.
We don't look back because we are new creatures in Christ but we know that what we used to do is wrong and not only do we learn from our past but grow from it as well.
All the things we might've done wrong...they don't matter! Yea because we are forgiven and it's like we never sinner and we've been doing this all along.
the chorus is basically him just breaking it down that we are all called to the frontline to witness and fight and it's just an awesome way of describing it. Stand beside, or step aside because God wants either on fire Christians or cold ones, He says in Revelation if you are lukewarm He will spew you out of His mouth, so pick a side!
And we will fight until the day He comes back and it no longer requires fighting because He will claim the final victory.
He's telling the cold Christian to step aside because he has forgotten what its all about and he is no longer fighting the good fight.
We fight to live for Christ, and we live to fight for Christ, simple as that.
And in this song you are hearing his testimony, that he is going to fight on the frontline.
We are constantly fighting on the frontline, there is never a moment's rest and if we ever do try to rest that is when we are most vulnerable, righteousness and sin are constantly struggling with one another and it is a never ending battle, until Christ returns of course.
We aren't afraid of all the things that occupy our time and distract us from Christ we will still prevail and as a matter of fact this song is part of the Christian way of being in the fast times.
These days we are living in have shown him all of the sinful things in the world and he now sees all things and where sin is coming from and how it works, and shouts it's time we Christians lead the way take a stand and take initiative to fight this fight and do some good in this world before Christ returns.

And yea, I agree, this song is awesome to put to other videos such as war ones, or world of warcraft; sure that's the point. Pillar is reaching out to the secular world with this song because not only is it appealing to the believer, but to the non-believer as well, which is what makes this song and most of Pillar's songs such perfect witnessing tools.

Hmmm, I think more than a few people are wrong. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/27/10

Okay... I'll agree with the fact most "Christians" are egotistical, arrogant buttheads.

But note the quotes around the word Christians.

Anyone can call themselves something. Doesn't mean they really are that thing. (E.g.; I could say I'm black....But I'm white as freakin' snow! Just because i say I am am black, doesn't make me black.) Too many people say they are Christians, when their lives don't match what they say.

I am a Christian. I say I am, and live like I am, to the best of my ability.

Yeah, I can be a cocky, arrogant, PITA windbag at times... but that's me getting in the way of who I am supposta be... Christian literally means "Little Christ". Study His life...Most of us don't come close to Him. Actually, none of us do. Hence why he came, never sinned (Anything that goes against God's rules and makes us Imperfect), died, and was raised again.

BTW, Christians and soldiers should be nearly synonymous. Not like the Middle Age Crusades (WOW...how stupid are people, really???!!!???). We, as Christians, should be fighting the flow, united, to show our family, co-workers, friends, and the rest of the world who Christ is. Loving people. Looking out for other's best interests over our own. Becoming carbon-copies of Christ.

To anyone who actually gets this far in these ramblings. I personally would like to apologize to you for all the false, misleading people who pervert the real image of Christ by being all we are called NOT to be. I hope you can look through all the wrongs of people, and see the Truth of Christ, and how much He loves you no matter what.

To Eric, Pillar is a christian band genious, when he sings It's not like I'm walking alone into the valley of the shadow of death" notice the " not like im walking alone" that other person is god. And the crown they refer to is our reward as christians, eternal life in heaven. Do some research before you ever say something so foolish

... about a month ago. One of my guildies posted a World of Warcraft video with this song as the soundtrack - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtNqY56sDPk -- F'n AMAZING video and song - I take the Crown line about the Lich King but that's the gamer in me!

Wow | Reviewer: Dominic | 6/22/10

In response to Eric.
The scripture reference to the "valley of the shadow of death" was used in the book of Psalms, which was written thousands of years before the birth of Christ. The Bible is the work of the disciples, David, and Moses. I don't care if you have something against Christians, and feel that they have oppressed you, but do a little research next time.
