From Yesterday Lyrics - 30 Seconds to Mars

Review The Song (123)

He's a stranger to some
And a vision to none
He can never get enough,
Get enough of the one

For a fortune he'd quit
But it's hard to admit
How it ends and begins
On his face is a map of the world
(A map of the world)
On his face is a map of the world
(A map of the world)
From yesterday, it's coming!
From yesterday, the fear!
From yesterday, it calls him
But he doesn't want to read the message here

On a mountain he sits, not of gold but of shit
through the blood he can look, see the life that he took
From council of one
He'll decide when he's done with the innocent

On his face is a map of the world
(A map of the world)
On his face is a map of the world
(A map of the world)

From yesterday, it's coming!
From yesterday, the fear!
From yesterday, it calls him
But he doesn't want to read the message
He doesn't want to read the message
Doesn't want to read the message here

On his face is a map of the world

From yesterday, it's coming!
From yesterday, the fear!
From yesterday, it calls him
But he doesn't want to read the message here
From yesterday,
From yesterday,
From yesterday, the fear
From yesterday,
From yesterday
But he doesn't want to read the message
But he doesn't want to read the message
But he doesn't want to read the message here

speaking of violence | Reviewer: Fury | 11/23/11

see? even on the comments there is VIOLENCE. Because of different interpretations.... and Interpretations of a song is just one simple matter made big by you people... (Sigh) since when do we humans learn how not to make small matters BIG??? It just resorts to violence

Music is art, no religion | Reviewer: jose | 11/16/11

I'm from Brazil, and my country is full this s-h-i-t called "christian pentecostalism", I believed the USA were more racional, I mistaked. Music is art, go to the hell that you created, fanatics, you aren't differents of Bin Laden.

Its a protest against the war... If you interpret it as something against god... and it offends you, then dont listen to it. and please stop trying to ruin it for the rest of us who see it for what it is.

God-Lovers must shut the fuck UP! | Reviewer: Phr33k | 4/30/11

Look people, I am an aethiest, and I respect the Christian viewpoint and values as much as the next man but FUCK, GET A LIFE PEOPLE!!! You people will condemn a man for his free will, and interpret any lyrics in a way that makes you feel pious! Just sit bach and enjoy the song! It has a deeper meaning than just a rant against God! 30 SECONDS 4EVA!!!

Songs that have meaning, are always better... But fair enough if you douches only want to listen to noise... But, just don't say shit about god and Lucifer and shit, especially if you have no idea what you're talking about... Only christian bands put their heart out into that
Besides, I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm pretty sure I remember hearing somewhere that he is an Atheist

OMFG | Reviewer: G | 1/24/11

All the God lovers, get the fuck out fundis. Jared isn't obsessed like all of you. The song has a much deeper meaning, about power, greed and hatred, and how all humans are obssessed with it. Now within that context opinions might defer as to whether it's specifically about one person or nation or if it's broader than that.

Jeez, seeing idiotic people like you comment on the lyrics of such an amazing song from an amazing band is just distasteful.

30 SECONDS TO MARS! <3

Qin Shi Huangdi | Reviewer: JC | 11/13/10

There's a reason as to why the video was shot in the Forbidden City in China: the song's most likely referring to Qin Shi Huangdi, First Emperor of a unified China. He was essentially a dictator (explaining the lyrics referring to elements of dictatorship), who had a vision of expanding his empire globally (hence 'on his face was a map of the world'). He was terrified of death and sought many potions and elixirs to prevent it (referring to 'from yesterday the fear' etc) and the white-faced hooded figure haunting Jared in the video). Just my theory, but it somehow all interlinks.

Gosh... | Reviewer: Tyler | 9/12/10

Dumbies, interpret songs how you want!!! Who cares what it's meaning is to the song writer? Let it mean to them what THEY want it to mean, and why don't you find out what it means to you? For anyone who wants to know exactly what Jared wrote this song about, it's about Cameron Diaz leaving him, thus not wanting to READ THE MESSAGE HERE.

pff music is no music if you are only listening to break the silence. meaning is important and this can be taken in different ways. to me personally its about God. to somebody else its something else... music is very personal...
