Sweet home Alabama and Give me three steps, for example. Those songs ROCK. But Freebird is a depressing song that drags along listlessly to a weak finish. I mean no disrespect to VanZant and company but if they were still around today, the song would probably not be as popular as it is. As for the best Southern Rock Band, musically, that honor belongs to The Allman Brothers Band. The guitar licks of Duanne, Greg, and Berry alone justify my opinion.
