Within Temptation Forsaken Lyrics

Last updated: 03/02/2013 06:44:06 AM

Now the day has come
We are forsaken this time

We lived our lives
In our paradise
As Gods we shaped the world around
No borderlines
We stayed behind
Though balance is something fragile

While we thought we were gaining
We turned back the time
It still slipped away
Our time has run out
Our future has died
There's no more escape

Now the day has come
We are forsaken
There's no time any more
Life will pass us by
We are forsaken
We're the last of our kind

The sacrifice
Was much to high
Our greed just made us all go blind
We try to hide what we fear inside
Today is the end of tomorrow

As the sea started rising
The land that we conquered
Just washed away
Although we all have tried
To turn back the time
It was all in vain

Now the day has come
We are forsaken
There's no time any more
Life will pass us by
We are forsaken
Only ruins stay behind

Now the day has come
We are forsaken this time

Now the day has come
We are forsaken
There's no time any more

Now the day has come,
The day has come,
The day has come,
The day has come.

The Sundering of Danu Talis | Reviewer: David Armos | 12/1/11

To me, these lyrics make perfect sense when describing what happened with Danu Talis, the homeland of the Elders in the Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel. Elders were revered as gods by the mortals that served them, and they ruled over Earth for a time. However, many of them became greedy; taking the mortals and forcing them to be slaves. Eventually, their homeland was sundered beneath the sea, killing a great number of them. Apparently, the Twins of Legend were the ones to sunder Danu Talis, and they died as a result.

Not just global warming or atlanits | Reviewer: Anna | 1/20/11

This song could be about any of the great empires and kingdoms, all of which met their end. "Sea" could actually be water, or it might be someother unstoppable force. All kingdoms, no matter how great, eventually meet their end. Just look at Rome.

amazing song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/27/10

this is such an amazing song! one of the first I heard by Within Temptation. I love the lyrics. What I really want to know is what the background vocalists are saying after "Only ruins stay behind." I've figured out all of the lines except the first one. If somebody could help... I'd really appreciate it!
anyways, such an amazing song and I love to sing along!

. . . ? | Reviewer: SabreStorm | 8/19/10

Honestly, good music like Within Temptation is merely poetry to instruments. There isn't necessarily an obvious meaning, and it can be easy to misinterpret the "obvious" as fitting something popular and idealized.

Personally, I don't think this has anything to do with global warming or Atlantis. I think it's about human emotion and relationships; feeling invulnerable, when you're not, and letting things get out of control to the point where it can't be saved, and both sides are fighting a pointless battle to get it back to the way it was.

something all should listen to | Reviewer: LittleReaper | 7/11/09

i love this band, and her songs are great, but to be honest im not a huge fan of her music. Im more into harder rock like cradle of filth, Nightwish, E Nomine and Rammstien. And like another person had replied, Within Temptation is very similar to Evanescense and so is Flyleaf apparantly, and Evanescense is a very good band.

forsaken | Reviewer: Usagi | 6/28/09

i think forsaken is a truly magnificant song...i have to say one of their best although all of their songs have their own individuallity...
i also agree, this song is much like the story of Atlantis...
i also agree that the lyrics are pretty much discribing the planet and how our selfishness and greed is distroying it...

i think it go's well with the anime elfen lied
if you have'nt watched it then you have'nt lived.

the song is perfect in every way and i thank within temptation so much for their brilliant music. They are a truly great band and are very talented.

Beautiful | Reviewer: Fera | 1/29/09

It's a beautiful song. The very first song I ever heard by them, so it's got a little special place in my heart. As for what it means, I think it's pretty obvious and I don't dare repeat what others have said.

Undead | Reviewer: Uncle Istvan | 1/21/09

Sorry for this but... well the first thing I have to say is that I really like this song, the second thing it's that I'm agree with "Raven" about the song is about "us" (human beings) but it also recall me (besides the myth of Atlantis) the race of World of Warcraft "The Forsaken"... (that's why I said "sorry about this" XD) It fits perfect with the song.. =P

This is practically a prediction of what is to come, if the human race continues to act itself a fool. "As the sea started rising"-the seas are indeed rising; "As gods we shaped the world around"-I'm sorry but as a race humans are indeed victims of hubris; "Our greed just made us all go blind"-self-explanatory. And yeah, this does kind of remind me of the legend of Atlantis...

Wolfchild | Reviewer: Nacht Ulf | 12/21/08

Hands-down my personal favorite song. the only song I would say I would listen to 24-7 for the rest of life. I like to use it's theme for my manga character: Nacht Ulf, so far the song has really helped with the main story and Hand Of Sorrow has helped me with his personal history as well as Forgiven. All in all: Within Temptation has inspired my work considerably, thanks Within Temptation!
